So, Which Cirque Show Is Motley Crue?
Motley Crüe's first rock 'n roll residency opened last Friday at The Joint inside the Hard Rock. The Crüe promised to transform the Hard Rock's casino floor into a carnival and influence its restaurant menus before delivering a Cirque meets rock show never before seen. Expectations were set for a mind-blowing epic performance for the ages. So which Cirque show did we witness on opening night: a LOVE-fest or an 'I can't Believe I spent money for that' crap-fest?
The carnival atmosphere didn't quite consume us entering the casino. Red bunting and Motley Crüe ads hung above the center bar while a couple clowns and stilt walkers posed for pictures near the Joint entrance. A handful of funhouse mirrors tossed in the Joint's hallway continued the underwhelming theme. The biggest pre-show circus turned out to be the line that stretched from the concert hall entry out past the Hart and Huntington tattoo shop less than thirty minutes before showtime.

If You Aren't A Motley Crue Fan, Stay Away From The Hard Rock
The Hard Rock's gonna be Motley Crüe's Frankenstein beginning today when the Feelgood hands of doctors Neil, Lee, Sixx, and Mars launch their much anticipated three week residency. The band is known for their over-the-top live shows anyhow, but the Crue is kicking it up a hundred notches for The Joint.
Not many intimate details about the actual show have been released to date other than that fans should expect a full-blown Cirque meets rock concert. Band members have hinted at transforming every inch of the Joint into performance space rather than being limited to playing the stage at one end. We're picturing Tommy Lee banging away above us, below us, and to both sides of us. In an interview with the Las Vegas Sun, Vince Neil revealed more elements of the two hour show: pyrotechnics, aerialists, strippers dancers, wild video displays, a rollercoaster drum set and Little Crüe.

How to Rock 11-11-11 Hard

For some reason, Vegas resorts just aren't having fun with once-in-a-lifetime numbers, anymore. Ever since 7-7-07 rolled by, numerical promotions have been pretty sparse. Thankfully, the Hard Rock has an over-the-top way for us to celebrate 11-11-11, especially if we hit a jackpot between now and then.
The hotel's 11-11-11 special is aptly labeled the "Extravagant Package." Probably, because they've thrown in just about everything you can ever think to experience at the resort but, more likely, because it comes with a whooping $11,111 price tag!

Break Out The Tiaras and Time Machines, It's Get-A-Day Week in Vegas

Mark your calendars. January 1 and January 15 were/will be big days in Vegas. And, not just because of the big hair.
Because the city of Las Vegas can't bend over show it loves the Miss America pageant enough (and because Mayor Oscar Goodman is in the last days of his reign and what else is he going to do?), January 15 has been designated as "Miss America Day" in Vegas.
That's this Saturday and it gives you just enough time to dust off those stilettos and crowns in celebration of all beauty queens do to themselves.

Even More Ways To Spend New Year's Eve in Vegas

If you thought we'd cover all there was to do in Vegas on New Year's Eve 2010, you were wrong. Every joint is doing something (except, ironically, The Joint) and we've only just touched the tip of the iceberg ice-covered champagne bottle.
Here are five more ways you can ring in NYE Vegas-style:

Will it Be Jessica Lowndes, Diana Ross or Usher This Weekend?
There’s not a huge number of celeb clubbers in town this weekend, but that’s probably because they’re intimidated by the performers coming to town.
Diana Ross plays the Colosseum tonight and tomorrow, Whoopi Goldberg is at TI tonight and Usher is at Mandalay Bay tomorrow night with Trey Songz and Miguel supporting. Then on Sunday, the Rodmanator is back at the Colosseum and Sheryl Crow headlines the Joint for her rescheduled gig. The Hard Rock has a pretty good package for the Crow gig: $159 for a room for the night and two tickets to the show.
But it’s ok because Jessica Lowndes of 90210 is doing her bit for the club kids by hosting her 22nd birthday party at Pure tomorrow. Also tomorrow, Jermaine Dupri is DJing at LAX.
We’ll save ourselves for La Ross, if that’s ok.

Tao Will Be Going Off Like a G6 Tomorrow
There’s only one event you need to know about this weekend: Tao celebrates its fifth birthday tomorrow. 210,000 bottles later, the bash should be epic. Guests already confirmed include Jack Osbourne, Karina Smirnoff, Christina Milian, Sarah Jane Morris, Brittny Gastineau, Rhys Wakefield “and others", but let’s not forget that when Lavo recently had its birthday, the celebs who turned up (Kimmy K, for starters) were way better than what had been promised (Rob Thomas). Cover’s not bad, considering: men $30, ladies $20, local ladies free.
In other news, Good Charlotte is playing a full-length setin the Lounge at the Palms tomorrow – it’ll then turn into an autograph session and an album release party for Cardiology. Tickets cost $30 and doors are at 5pm for a 6pm performance. The big question there, of course, is will little Holly Madison turn up or is her romance with Benji Madden well and truly over?
Drake is also playing the Joint tomorrow and then hosting at Tryst. And as if you don’t already have enough problems getting that pesky “Like a G6” song out of your head, the people behind it – Far East Movement – will be hosting at Surrender tomorrow.
Yup, we suggest you have an early one tonight so you can make them all tomorrow.

The One Where We Assumed a Stage Persona Would Match a TV Persona
His comedy made us gag even more than his stretchmarks
While we like to tell you what to do and not do in Vegas, that doesn't mean we don't mess up every now and then. It's true. VegasChatter makes Vegas Mistakes, just like everyone else! See how our fondness for a TV show wasted us precious drinking money below
We’re always up for a laugh here at VegasChatter, so when we heard back in March that a castmember from one of our favorite TV shows was coming to Vegas, we immediately decided to buy a ticket. The show: 30 Rock. The castmember: Tracy Morgan, working The Joint. No, we hadn’t seen his stand up before, but anyone from 30 Rock is going to share our SOH, no?

No Doubt Playing at The Hard Rock This Friday
For the second time on its 2009 concert tour, No Doubt is visiting Las Vegas. This time, it’s booked a gig at the new Joint at the Hard Rock for this Friday night – a considerably more intimate venue than its last stop at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
The Hard Rock has a special No Doubt room package available for $650, which includes two tickets to the concert, one night’s stay in a Casino Tower Mountain View King room and a VIP line pass.
Since the package doesn’t specify which caliber of tickets it comes with, we suspect you’d probably better off just reserving one of the HRH’s new Paradise Tower Mountain View King rooms online. The new rooms come with plush bedding, deluxe bath amenities, minibar, 42-inch plasma TVs and – if you book their introductory special via this link – a $25 resort credit.
You can get the room plus resort credit for $279 and then buy your own tickets at TicketMaster for either $91, $121, $191 or $246.

Carlos Santana Kicks Off The Joint Residency Tonight

Hot on the heels of a prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award (presented at the 20th Anniversary Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami), legendary music talent Carlos Santana kicks off his two-year residency at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Over the past four decades, Santana has sold more than 90 million records, and performed to more than 100 million people globally. He has won eleven Grammy Awards, with his 36th album, Supernatural, winning nine of those Grammys in 2000.
Titled to pay homage to Santana’s most successful body of work to date, Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits debuts tonight in a production designed by Frank The Plumber (recently responsible for Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour set) exclusively for the new venue. Expect a nostalgic collection of career-spanning tracks, including Santana’s first charting single "Jingo” up to the latest hit, “Into the Night.”
