February 3, 2015 at 5:58 PM | by | Comment (1)

March Madness is almost here so you know what time it is... party time!

Our annual rundown of March Madness viewing parties is here and can be found below. We'll update the list as we discover new offerings, but if you don't see the venue you're interested in right now, the best advice is simply to call them and inquire. Don't wait. The March Madness in Las Vegas Facebook group (which now boasts some 3,700 members) is already reporting parties at The Pub at Monte Carlo and Lagasse's Stadium at Venetian|Palazzo are sold out.

'Mondays Dark' Belongs On Your Vegas Radar

The lady behind me at the Tix4Tonight kiosk sounded disappointed as she gazed at the listings on the monitor. “Jeff Civillico's comedy show is dark? He must be spooky like Criss Angel". Chuckling slightly, I turned around and explained that “dark” is lingo to indicate when a show is “off” for the night. Maybe, I should have saved a chuckle for myself, because that's when this writer finally realized why a certain monthly event goes by the name of Mondays Dark.

You see, for many Vegas productions, Monday is typically the “dark” day. As weekend visitors return home and hotels empty out, show performers and crews typically start their own “weekend.” But, for some entertainers, the desire to keep performing is strong. Mark Shunock, a lead in Venetian’s Rock of Ages, had the idea to channel that extra energy into something new: a gathering of fellow Vegas performers for regularly scheduled spontaneity-fueled variety shows with proceeds donated to Vegas charities. And, that’s how Mondays Dark began.

Observations On The KISS Residency At Hard Rock

Where: 4455 Paradise Rd. [map], 89169
November 10, 2014 at 4:19 PM | by | Comments (2)

VegasChatter reader @paperposter recently checked out the newly launched KISS residency at The Joint at Hard Rock and shared his thoughts with us. His only real issue with the show is that it's only about 90 minutes. With the massive catalog KISS has, the show’s length leaves fans wanting more.

He noted Def Leppard and Gun ‘N Roses, who had similar residency stints at The Joint, played for closer to double the time of the long-tongued ones. On the plus side, KISS did bring the expected pyrotechnics and special effects they are known for.

August 1, 2014 at 4:05 PM | by | Comment (1)

iHeart Radio. Amplified. Desert Hops. Route 91. Life is Beautiful.

Music lovers. Grape lovers. Beer lovers. Downtown lovers.

No matter your tastes or your interests, it seems as if Las Vegas will have a festival just for you before year's end. And, we've three more options for you to ponder while trying to decide which events are can't miss and which should be shuffled over to the 'maybe next time' pile. We've already mentioned a few here on Chatter, but have compiled them all together in an at-a-glance format before. The three fests we've yet to mention have been highlighted in blue.

Hard Rock has been (forgive us) rockin' the Vegas residency with limited engagements by Def Leppard, Motley Crue and Guns N' Roses as well as an upcoming fall residency by KISS.

Guns N' Roses just wrapped up its second residency at The Joint and did really good business. How good? Take a look at the ticket sales released by Billboard for the band's last three nights at HRH:

KISS Residency At Hard Rock Rumored For...

June 9, 2014 at 1:01 PM | by | Comments (0)

No, this is not the real KISS... yet.

KISS has long been rumored to be doing a Vegas residency and those whispers were rekindled recently. Going back to last December, KISS frontman, Paul Stanley, mentioned they were considering a Vegas residency. That rumor surged back to life last month when Stanley didn’t deny the possibility when asked by a fan:

Over the weekend, this poster at the Hard Rock really amped up the discussion.

June 4, 2014 at 7:56 PM | by | Comments (0)

If you're a fan of rock 'n' roll or heavy metal, you're probably aware that Guns N' Roses has returned to The Joint at the Hard Rock for a second residency called No Trickery! An Evening of Destruction. There are a couple more shows of this mini-residency set for this weekend, if you're in town.

Rock 'n' roll is always best experienced in person, but don't worry if you're unable to make it to see GnR in person. Beginning June 18, you'll be able to see a 3D concert film from Guns N' Roses called "Appetite for Democracy" in theaters. The film also will be available on Blu-Ray and DVD starting July 1.

Def Leppard To Bring Hysteria To The Joint

Where: 4455 Paradise Road [map], 89169
November 12, 2012 at 1:33 PM | by | Comment (1)

First, it was a Mötley Crüe. Now, they're feeding our Appetite for Democracy. But, what's next for the hard rockin' residencies of The Joint? Full on hysteria.

The Hard Rock has announced that Def Leppard will launch VIVA Hysteria starting March 22. The nine-week engagement will have the band performing every single song from their HYSTERIA album, as well as some of their greatest hits not found on said album. And, yes, that means you'll be able to sing along to "Pour Some Sugar On Me."

Axl Rose To Feed Jimmy Kimmel's Appetite For Democracy

October 2, 2012 at 1:06 PM | by | Comments (2)

Axl on Halloween. Get it? Should we have gone with clown nose again?

The residency is coming, the residency is coming. The long awaited, much anticipated, years in the making Guns N Roses residency at the Hard Rock is almost here. Now, that we have the Axl approved intro out of the way, we can move on to the real news: in leading up to the biggest residency the Joint's ever seen if it were 1993 Mr. Rose himself is set to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live Wednesday, October 24.

Why is Axl on Jimmy big news? Other than the chance to get his thoughts on the iPhone 6 the Kimmel appearance marks Rose's first live television broadcast interview in over 20 years (ignoring the fact that JKL airs on tape delay). Ah, now you see where we pulled 1993 from. In fact, the GnR lead singer hasn't granted many interviews at all in recent years. Last year's sitdown with VH1's That Metal Show was a rare chance to hear the singer speak since the days the band was splattered in the pages of Kerrang!, Hit Parader, and Metal Edge. Again, 20 years ago.

Welcome To The Joint: Guns N' Roses Announces Hard Rock Residency

August 13, 2012 at 6:31 PM | by | Comments (4)

Finally, a musical residency announcement that doesn't involve middle-aged country singers! Instead, today's news involves middle-aged rockers!

Axl Rose and whoever makes up the rest of Guns N' Roses have just announced a 12-date residency of "mind-blowing shows" at The Joint at the Hard Rock starting on Halloween and moving well into November. The AEG Live production is to be called, "Appetite for Democracy." Umm....
