Restaurant changes in Vegas are as frequent as people waking up with a hangover. Here's the latest menu swap you should know about.
A NEW BURGER PLACE FOR PALMS PLACE--CAFE 6
Chef Kerry Simon's legendary Simon restaurant closed on May 22 and in its place has sprung up Cafe 6, which opened on Friday, serving gourmet burgers from basic to exotic with an average price of $17. There is no official update to the Palms or Palms Place website yet but the OpenTable listing for Simon redirects to a Cafe 6 page. A source tells us Cafe 6 is "a higher-end casual restaurant." Already, we're salivating over that Smoke-Out Burger shown above. Is it lunchtime yet?
THE CAFE AT MONTE CARLO
On Sunday, June 7 at 2:30pm, The Café at Monte Carlo will close down until further notice. The space will undergo a remodel that will include adding a variety of meeting and event space for guests. No word yet on when it will reopen. During the remodel, guests can get casual meals over at The Pub at Monte Carlo, including pancakes, omelets, and fresh fruits and juices. Diners have the option of dining out on The Pub patio, at the bar counter, or in the main dining area. The Pub will also change its hours to accommodate early diners and will open at 7 a.m. beginning Monday, June 8.
ALAIN DUCASSE AT MIX AT MANDALAY BAY
Mix, the top-floor restaurant of Delano Las Vegas (formerly THEhotel) will reportedly close on May 30 (which we told you about last month.) We are still waiting on verifcation from chef Alain Ducasse's rep as well as from the hotel itself but the closure is coming sooner than later. Ducasse will install a new concept called Rivea in the space, which will probably be unveiled later this fall. UPDATE: 5.26.15; 2:00pm: Mix's last day will be May 31 with the official closing happening on June 1. So get to Mix on May 31 to have your last bite/sip!

We’re less than four weeks away from football season, the most wonderful time of year for many sports fans and an event that's amplified in Las Vegas. There’s more money bet on football in Las Vegas than every other sport combined. That’s serious biz. While the NFL and other leagues don’t consider fantasy football to be gambling, it’s pretty close since many fantasy leagues have fees and winnings associated with good gameplay.
Since Las Vegas is home to betting on football it might as well be home to fantasy football drafts. Here are our picks for getting your fantasy football season going in Las Vegas as well as a list of other special events.

When there's a big pay-per-view boxing match in town, none of the casinos will show the fight for free in their sportsbook. In fact, the only casinos where you’ll find the fights being shown are affiliated with the host casino. Since either MGM Grand or Mandalay Bay host most of the pay-per-view boxing matches (occasionally Wynn will host a fight that takes place at the Thomas & Mack Center), you’ll usually find the fight showing in an MGM Resorts property.
Here are the viewing parties on the Vegas Strip where you can watch this Saturday's Floyd Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana fight:
Aria: Bristlecon Ballroom viewing party is $75 general admission. Food and beverage is extra.

Pairing St. Patrick's Day with Las Vegas already has the makings of an unforgettable holiday. If you can remember it. This year, St. P falls on a Saturday in the middle of March Madness. Aside from being face down outside a Dublin bar in a pool of what we hope is beer, we can't think of anywhere else we'd want to be this St. Patty's Day. On second thought -- March Madness opening weekend? Sorry, Dublin, you just fell to second place.
It's going to be hard not to stumble into a bit of the wearing o' the green and a bunch of drinkin o' the booze anywhere on the Strip. But, if you're a planner, there's plenty o' food and drink specials to pencil into your green itinerary. Just don't blame us if your tongue isn't the only green appendage
Sunday Monday morning.

NASCAR trucks and drivers are already rolling into Las Vegas Motor Speedway from this past weekend's Phoenix race. If you're bringing your NASCAR colors to Vegas this week and have your tickets and rooms squared away, it's time to focus on where
Danica drivers will be signing and fans can score drink specials. And don't forget race fans, NASCAR Cafe is no more.

Vegas is a booze kind of town. Wherever you go, whatever time of day, there is a good chance that some sort of alcohol is flowing. Being the good Denver native that this writer in particular happens to be, we love a good beer. In Vegas, though, our expectations are usually quite tempered as most places only serve the standard options. But, while you may only be able to get (at the high end) a Corona or Newcastle while gambling, these is an ever-growing list of places to find craft beer in Las Vegas.
The Pub at Monte Carlo - The Pub at Monte Carlo is featured inside the walkway of shops that takes you from Monte Carlo to Aria. With a beer menu that is not short on options (they boast of having more than 300), you certainly should be able to find a beer for any palette here.

Suddenly, the Monte Carlo is close to the top of our list for places to party this Halloween weekend and all due to six little words -- all you can drink + sexy vixens. And, we don't even know what a sexy vixen looks like, exactly.
The hotel's Facebook page has just announced the Rock & Roll Vixen Party set for Saturday, October 29. The drinkfest will take place inside the Monte Carlo's pub named, err, The Pub.

It's man vs. food, Vegas-style. After dishing on Monte Carlo's eight-pound burger challenge recently, we found that there's at least four other eating challenges on The Strip. You may be an idiot for trying, but in Vegas if you don't do at least one idiotic thing, why even bother coming?

The Pub at Monte Carlo recently fired up a burger-eating challenge to any and all takers -- eight pounds of ground beef and a 32 ounce boot o' beer to wash it all down with. @MonteCarloSales on Twitter shared a photo of the first dude to try it, but never said if the August 31 attempt was successful. We're going to assume that means the guy seen above is still in a food coma.

Caesars Palace may be making another big 'superstar performer' announcement tomorrow, but often its the little things that really speak to the charm of Vegas while the opposite end of the spectrum can really, really disappoint.
