Bottoms Up! Vegas Uncork'd Starts Today

May 6, 2010 at 11:55 AM | by juliab | 0 Comments

Are your tummies grumbling? Hope so, because from this afternoon it’s the weekend to get your greed on. Vegas UnCork’d launches with a bevy of superchefs and a champagne bottle being sobered off at miX at THEhotel this afternoon, and from then on, there are four days of eating, drinking and then eating a bit more to get through.

Many of the 30 events are now sold out (greed isn’t a spontaneous thing, see) but the list of what is still available is here. Tonight, you can attend the Shinkansen to Shibuya sake and sushi party at Shibuya in MGM Grand (10.30pm-1.30am, $80 inc free entry to Studio 54). Tomorrow morning there’s an interview with Wolfgang Puck (no food = boring), various lunches (including Puck at CUT, $150) and, in the evening, the glorious sounding Grand Tasting at Caesars in the Garden of the Gods (7.30pm, $175) followed by the celeb chef blackjack tourney at Encore.

More Tickets Released for Vegas Uncork'd (But They Are Going Fast)

April 15, 2010 at 6:15 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Fresh off our all-we-could-eat buffet extravaganza, we have to admit it's hard to even think of food right now, let alone a four-day foodie festival like Vegas Uncork'd. But we know we'll be feeling better come May 6 and really, how could we pass up the chance to see and taste the best food from the best chefs in Sin City?

There are over 30 events taking place from May 6-9 at the Bon Appetit-sponsored affair and you can buy tickets to these events through the Vegas Uncork'd website. We had word that most of the tickets were sold-out but it looks like they just released a new batch yesterday.

Still on sale are tickets to the Celebrity Chef Blackjack Tournament, poolside at Encore on May 6 ($350 for players; $150 for spectators); The Grand Tasting, poolside at Caesars which features sample bites from a ton of Las Vegas restaurants ($175); as well as several demonstrations and dinners with chefs like Alain Ducasse, Charlie Palmer, Francois Payard, Bradley Ogden and Wolfgang Puck.

Bill Clinton: Not as Big of a Draw as Jubilee Booty?

Where: 3570 Las Vegas Boulevard South [map], 89109
February 22, 2010 at 6:45 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

It's been a rough month for Bill Clinton. A few weeks ago, he had to enter the hospital for an emergency heart stent procedure. Then his picture was placed beneath the booty of a Jubilee girl on the Bally's marquee and now tickets to his show at Caesars Palace tonight, An Evening Event with Bill Clinton, have not sold well, despite being priced at a very affordable $35 to $75 (affordable for Vegas standards anyways.)

The Strip Podcast first reported that tickets for the show were being given away on HouseLV.com, a website that gives out free Las Vegas show tickets to its members who pay an annual membership fee. (Another TwitPic shows Clinton tix lumped in with Men of X and Chippendales.)

Even our own VegasChatter editor was told yesterday that the top two tiers of the Colosseum has been closed. Additionally, Harrah's sent out some desperate last-minute 2 for 1 offers. On the bright side, if you already bought a ticket in the cheap seats, chances are you will be moved up to the better sections.

As Predicted, Garth Brooks Sells Out The Encore

Where: 3131 Las Vegas Blvd S [map], 89109
October 26, 2009 at 12:03 PM | by juliana | 1 Comment

If you weren't up at 8am on Saturday to buy your tickets to Garth Brooks for his first five weekend shows at Encore, then you probably didn't get squat. Wynn Las Vegas said the shows were sold out by 1pm. Is it too soon to call Garth the savior of Vegas? Probably, yeah but if he can replicate these numbers for every weekend show, then we may change our position. The LV Sun writes:

During the course of the day, Wynn Las Vegas’ box office Web site received more than 5.4 million page views. The resort took more that 140,000 calls for tickets and had 40,000 people waiting for tickets in the online queue at any given moment.

Your only hope of getting tickets for this first batch of shows--Dec. 11-13, Jan. 1-3 and 22-24, Feb. 12-14 and 26-28--is picking up returned or unclaimed tickets. The price will still stand at $125. Or you could hit up eBay for two tickets at $460 on January 23. Hmmm...yeah, we're gonna pass on that offer.

UPDATE: Word on The Strip is that Wynncore may void tix that were bought for over $143 (the total ticket price after taxes.)

More than 50 audience members will be selected at random to participate as contestants.

Beyonce Arrives in Sin City; Rates Jump at Wynn and Encore

July 30, 2009 at 2:17 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Tonight is the first night of Beyonce's four-night concert extravaganza at the Encore and after a dismal second quarter profit report, the Wynn/Encore folks could certainly use some "Get Me Bodied" music.

Surprisingly, room rates are still very do-able tonight--$179 for Wynn and $199 for Encore (on Expedia.) Of course, Friday and Saturday are much, much, much higher--$442 for Wynn and $576 for Encore. As for getting tickets to the B-show, there are some limited seats available at a whopping $1,000 a piece. Interested? Tickets can be bought by calling (702) 770-DIVA (3482).

If you can't splurge for the tickets, just remember that Toad the Wet Sprocket will be performing absolutely free tonight at VooDoo Beach at The Rio.
