Travelocity Gives Us Another Tool To Use When Hunting for Hotel Deals

You know how married we are to Hotwire here so while we're excited that there's a new way to get discount hotel rooms from Travelocity, we're not so sure we're ready to make the big move.
HotelChatter reports that Travelocity's Top Secret Hotels launched this week and it promises up to 45 percent off the hotel's original rate.
We gave it a spin for hotels in Vegas in April and pulled up a variety of options, most of which were extremely good-priced. However, what we didn't like was that the amenity listings seemed to be pretty anemic.
Hotwire definitely gives better descriptions about the property that's up for grabs and its amenities. Travelocity didn't even have amenities for some properties listed in Vegas. Others, only had one or two.
But more so than amenities, locations on Travelocity were hard to suss out compared to what we can find on Priceline and Hotwire. For the first page of results, only one hotel popped up with a location that was listed as "Las Vegas Strip." Its lone amenity listed was "swimming pool" and its rating was three-star. Hmmm....

The Roaming Gnome Makes The Most of His Time in Vegas

We bet The Roaming Gnome sure is glad voters voted to send him off to Fabulous Las Vegas instead of Atlantic City the other week. Not only did he get to shack up at the Encore (for $179 a night) and get on stage with Carrot Top and watch the men of Thunder from Down Under and dine at Joel Robuchon, he also married Playboy playmate and Peepshow star Holly Madison. And here's the photographic evidence.
The Roaming Gnome also wrote to his fans to tell them the good news:
I recently got back from a smashing trip to Las Vegas, as part of my Summer of Possibilities tour, during which the chaps and chapesses of this marvelous country are voting where I vacation. (Want a go? You can have your say on my next trip at http://www.travelocity.com) As you can imagine, I had a rather splendid time, so I thought I’d pop in and tell you all about it.
But first, an announcement: I am now a married man. Yes indeed, I tied the knot, took the plunge, got myself an old ball and chain. The lovely lady, in fact, is none other than Peepshow star and former playmate Holly Madison! (My word, I know, I couldn’t believe my luck either. Pinch me!)
Anyone want to go digging through the Clark County records to make sure this marriage is legit? Yeah, we thought so. Remember, there are 24-hour wedding chapels in Vegas but the registrar's office is only open until midnight. Otherwise: No license, no dice. Or well, no legal marriage.

Tell Travelocity's Roaming Gnome To Come To Vegas, Baby, Vegas

UPDATE: Vegas Has Won It! Wooot!
Travelocity's mascot lawn fixture, The Roaming Gnome, is traveling the world this summer and he wants you to decide where he should head next--Atlantic City or Fabulous Las Vegas. He's taking votes on his web site and we are quite shocked that Vegas is just barely eeking out a lead with just 52 percent of the votes.
Think of all the photo opportunities the Gnome could have here in Las Vegas like in front of the Bellagio fountains, inside Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden, on top of the Stratosphere, shopping at The Forum Shops, going backstage at a Cirque du Soleil show, dining at Michelin-star restaurants, sitting at the blackjack tables, getting a little too rowdy at the dueling piano bars, sliding up and down a stripper pole, blacking out in his hotel room...er...umm...scratch that last bit.
Regardless, the Gnome would have a much better time here than in Atlantic City. First of all, there's more to do here. And getting here is so much easier since we have a major international airport just minutes from the Strip. And remember: what happens to the Gnome in Vegas, Stays in Vegas.
To show your support for Vegas, hit up Vote Travelocity and submit your vote now. The voting will end tomorrow at 12pm EST.
