It’s been just over a year since TI abruptly pulled the plug on its outdoor pirate spectacle. Original plans called for a brief hiatus during construction on a shopping mall located adjacent to the show’s viewing area. Instead, in late 2013, TI informed the Sirens of TI cast the production would not be returning. Few expected such a drastic move. Even TI staffers anticipated a revised show to emerge once construction settled down. Now, we’ve learned that an upgraded show actually was in the works and that it could have been The Strip’s latest tech marvel.

Despite reports this week that ticket sales were still brisk, representatives from Treasure Island are now stating that the November 28 Bill Cosby show has been cancelled by “mutual agreement."

If you’ve been under a rock the past week and are unaware, there is a growing list of ladies who are coming out to say the comedian and television star drugged and raped them. Initially, the Las Vegas Review-Journal had reported the performance was still on and the proceeds would go to charity. Now it is officially not happening.

TI's Coming CVS Will Be More Grocer Than Pharmacy

Treasure Island will be home to the Las Vegas Strip's newest CVS, but it turns out this one won't be like all the rest, anymore.

Earlier this week, the resort requested permission from county officials to change the coming CVS into a stop that's "more like a grocery store than a pharmacy." Officials greenlighted the proposal without comment so more specifics are not known at the moment.

Senor Frog's Changes Hours, Keeps Drink Special

Where: 89109

You’ll have fewer hours in the day to hop in the conga line and have shots poured into your mouth at Senor Frog's.

The drinking will start a bit later now at the TI establishment. The bar/restaurant has officially cut back its hours and now opens Sunday through Thursday at 2 p.m. and at noon Friday and Saturday. Previously, the party could begin at 11 a.m. daily. Closing time is still flexible so you’ve got the power to keep the party going on that end, at least.

Treasure Island's New Mall Is, Well.. Umm...

Where: 3300 Las Vegas Boulevard [map], 89109

In April, a Treasure Island rep told us its new, self-described "retail-tainment center" would make its debut in September. Now, a few days into the last month of summer, it looks like they may need a bit more time.

We drove by the mall earlier this week and found an exterior nearing completion, but the three-story addition -- tacked onto the resort's northeast corner at Spring Mountain and eating into a portion of the now-silent cove -- appeared to have largely unfinished interiors. Execs have never announced a tenant beyond CVS for the structure. The pharmacy will occupy the entire ground floor, covering some 12,000 square feet.

Bar-Hopping Around Vegas

August 11, 2014 at 4:35 PM | by | Comments (2)

Our long-running Sip or Pour series has covered some of the best bars in Vegas. Usually, we highlight two different types of bars, those ideal for a stop before you move on to the next one and those where you can chill all night long (the party in the street being optional). But, what about one ultimate night of fun and drinks and more drinks and maybe some shots? Here's how we would spend one epic night in Vegas. If you follow in our footsteps, make sure to cab it or bring along the ultimate designated driver. (And, in some cases, it's just a short walk!)

From The Resort Fee Department: Increases And The Disappearance Of An Opt-Out

August 5, 2014 at 3:02 PM | by | Comments (24)

It's been almost a month since our last resort fees story so, you know, it's time. And, not to disappoint, we have updates for you from both sides of The Strip.

The first came to us from VegasChatter tipster Duane D. who writes:

I just booked a room at Harrah’s through Expedia and found out later that they will want another $24.64 PER DAY up from the $18.00 shown on your list. This is a big rip off so I will (be) cancelling the room until they smarten up.

It is not the costs that is the problem, but to quote one price and then virtually double it for very dubious reasons makes it unethical. Even if they have covered their themselves legally, which they have, does not make it right. Whatever happened to the theory of just getting people there and then hosing them in the casinos – we all know that happens and are prepared for it but to expect more in other ways is just too much.Good luck to them.

TI's 'Retail-tainment' Center Starts To Take Shape

There's still much to be done before Treasure Island's coming "retail-tainment" center crosses from rendering (shown below) to reality.

Captured this afternoon, the snapshot at top shows the current state of things at TI. Iron framework now juts out from the property's northeast corner.

There's still no word on just what will join the only announced tenant at the multi-story mall -- CVS. The center is expected to debut later this year in September.

Adam Carolla To Follow-Up Mangria Next Month In Vegas, Bro

January 31, 2014 at 3:57 PM | by | Comments (3)

Carolla's Mangria, dribbling to a Vegas glass near you soon.

Not content riding the success of Mangria, comedian Adam Carolla has been down in the man cave conjuring up new alcoholic concoctions. Mangria, for those who don't know, is a wine/vodka cocktail available in two flavors (white peach pear and signature orange sangria) that Carolla crafted in a half-drunken stupor and refined with the Patio Wine Company in Napa Valley. Esquire magazine describes the smell of Mangria as like that "sticky red punch that paints the corners of a child’s mouth (at) a birthday party" and its taste as "fking delicious."

Carolla didn't have to stray far from the farm to find his newest cocktail, Brose. It's a blend of the two Mangria flavors, creating a "fruity signature drink."
