In April, a Treasure Island rep told us its new, self-described "retail-tainment center" would make its debut in September. Now, a few days into the last month of summer, it looks like they may need a bit more time.
We drove by the mall earlier this week and found an exterior nearing completion, but the three-story addition -- tacked onto the resort's northeast corner at Spring Mountain and eating into a portion of the now-silent cove -- appeared to have largely unfinished interiors. Execs have never announced a tenant beyond CVS for the structure. The pharmacy will occupy the entire ground floor, covering some 12,000 square feet.

Our long-running Sip or Pour series has covered some of the best bars in Vegas. Usually, we highlight two different types of bars, those ideal for a stop before you move on to the next one and those where you can chill all night long (the party in the street being optional). But, what about one ultimate night of fun and drinks
and more drinks and maybe some shots? Here's how we would spend one epic night in Vegas. If you follow in our footsteps, make sure to cab it or bring along the ultimate designated driver. (And, in some cases, it's just a short walk!)

It's been almost a month since our last resort fees story so, you know, it's time. And, not to disappoint, we have updates for you from both sides of The Strip.
The first came to us from VegasChatter tipster Duane D. who writes:
I just booked a room at Harrah’s through Expedia and found out later that they will want another $24.64 PER DAY up from the $18.00 shown on your list. This is a big rip off so I will (be) cancelling the room until they smarten up.
It is not the costs that is the problem, but to quote one price and then virtually double it for very dubious reasons makes it unethical. Even if they have covered their themselves legally, which they have, does not make it right. Whatever happened to the theory of just getting people there and then hosing them in the casinos – we all know that happens and are prepared for it but to expect more in other ways is just too much.Good luck to them.

Can't wait for future Vegas to arrive? Sate your thirst for Vegas new-ness with ten shots of construction porn. All were snapped today as we travelled from Luxor to Sahara. Erm, SLS!
Delano Las Vegas (Debuting September 1)
Don't call it THEhotel, anymore. It's almost Delano now -- just check out the sign below! -- so we might as well get used to it. Officially making its Vegas debut September 1, some folks are already enjoying the new rooms. A rep tells us about 40 percent of the tower's accommodations have been remodeled so far. For more on what to expect from Delano, click here.

There's still much to be done before Treasure Island's coming "retail-tainment" center crosses from rendering (shown below) to reality.
Captured this afternoon, the snapshot at top shows the current state of things at TI. Iron framework now juts out from the property's northeast corner.
There's still no word on just what will join the only announced tenant at the multi-story mall -- CVS. The center is expected to debut
later this year in September.

From Sahara down to Tropicana, things continue to change on The Strip. On one end, SLS Las Vegas is painting the
town towers. On the other, Double Barrel Roadhouse will debut in a matter of days. Here's a quick look at where things stand on the Strip (photos taken on Sunday, March 2):

Not content riding the success of Mangria, comedian Adam Carolla has been down in the man cave conjuring up new alcoholic concoctions. Mangria, for those who don't know, is a wine/vodka cocktail available in two flavors (white peach pear and signature orange sangria) that Carolla crafted in a half-drunken stupor and refined with the Patio Wine Company in Napa Valley. Esquire magazine describes the smell of Mangria as like that "sticky red punch that paints the corners of a child’s mouth (at) a birthday party" and its taste as "fking delicious."
Carolla didn't have to stray far from the farm to find his newest cocktail, Brose. It's a blend of the two Mangria flavors, creating a "fruity signature drink."

Time to fill up your glass with another installment of our Sip or Pour series, suggesting awesome drinking spots on The Strip. Getting right to it, here's two more bar recommendations from our @jproz that'll either let you sip on something special or pour enough to get
you drunk the party started.
For an elegant drinking experience, it is essential to stop at Bellagio. This world-renown casino, with its Italian opulence and majestic fountains, has it all, including a bar that overlooks and incorporates everything it's known for.
Hyde Bellagio is a lounge in the early evening before transforming into a full-service club at night. But, the real value is the view. The nightlife venue is located right in the center of Lake Bellagio and offers a balcony perfect for toasting this Vegas landmark. Hyde's drink menu, it should be pointed out, is something special, too.

In April of 2013, Venetian and Palazzo upped their resort fee, but gave us an out -- the ability to decline it at check-in or check-out. The only caveat was that we'd be charged for services at regular prices if we did end up using them.
The days of being able to say no to that, however, have sadly ended. A front desk agent told us over the weekend that it's no longer an option.

Its Facebook page just posted a rendering of the multi-story mall that's to come. It shows an understated neutral-colored facade paired with lots of oversized windows. A stark difference from the
gaudy brightly colored party decor of Señor Frog's located just around the corner.

VegasChatter reader Claus W. recently sent us an email after noticing Treasure Island’s lagoon had been refilled via EarthCam. We hustled over to check it out for ourselves and, sure enough, the ships have once again set sail after spending more than two months hovering above a drained pool. Both ships are looking as good as ever, but now sit eerily still behind newly added fountains.

It's a question we're asked every December and, we get it, it's an important one -- where can we see fireworks on New Year's Eve? Just standing on The Strip is a good idea, but where is an important factor, especially with towering resorts all around.
This year, just like the past two, fireworks will launch from the rooftops of seven resorts: Stratosphere, Treasure Island, the Venetian, Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, Aria, and MGM Grand. The entire production will last eight minutes and 23 seconds.
