Where to Take Moms for Mother's Day in Vegas

Kris Jenner, mamma to all the Kardashians, loves Vegas and we love her back. We know, it's a weird obsession to have.
Heading to Sin City with your mom this weekend? That's so Kardashian of you! But seriously, we like it when moms can party with their children in Sin City. And so does Vegas as there are plenty of mom-centric things to do this weekend. Here are the ones we think Kris will like:
1. Brunch at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon: You can't go wrong by taking mom to a restaurant helmed by the Chef of the Century, Joël Robuchon, inside the MGM Grand. While Robuchon may not be in the kitchen that day, his master chefs will be and Mom will have a front row seat to the cooking show. An added bonus? You will get a complimentary signed copy of his new cookbook “The Complete Robuchon.” (Cost: $175 per person and seatings are 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m.)
2. Afternoon Tea at the Mandarin Oriental: Take mom up to the Mandarin Oriental's 23rd floor for some quiet tea time from 3pm to 5:30pm. Here, you can watch over the hustle and bustle below on The Strip but in a relaxed and serene setting. No slot machines, no loud music and no drunk folk tottering around. Choose from a traditional English tea menu ($40)with freshly brewed loose teas, tea pastries and finger sandwiches. Or you can try the Miniature Cupcake Bento ($40) with T Leaf teas and a selection of vanilla, red velvet, s'mores and strawberries and cream cupcakes.

Trump Drops To $99 a Night With New Offer

The non-gaming, non-exciting Trump Las Vegas may not be one of our favorite places in Las Vegas but you can't deny that they consistently have great rates and deals for their all-suite accommodations.
The newest "Golden Getaway" offer (a nod to the hotel's golden exterior) is available from now through March 30 and offers two nights starting at $99 a night with a $50 hotel credit and a 4pm late check out. The credit can be used at the DJT restaurant or the hotel's spa and should take away the sting of the $15 resort fee. The offer is also throwing in two for one tickets to Mystère up the street at Treasure Island for just $79.
To book, call (866) 471-0438 and mention “Golden Getaway” or visit www.trumplasvegashotel.com and enter code 50HOTL. There is a two-night minimum and just so you know, Mystère is dark on Thursdays and Fridays.

A Very British Scandal At The Bellagio, And How To Avoid Your Own

Slight scandal doing the rounds across the pond at the moment. It was revealed by the Guardian today that the Head of the BBC, Director General Mark Thompson, dropped £647.50 ($1072) of expenses on two nights at the Bellagio earlier this year.
$1072? How odd. Because we’re looking at the website now, and we can see rooms available for $129. Also, a friend of ours is, right now, shacked up in said Bellagio, having paid the princely sum of £500 ($828) for five nights and flights from London, all in.
So what we’re thinking is, someone either got a bad, bad deal, or someone booked a nice, nice room. Possibly a penthouse suite (from $359) or even a two-bed penthouse suite (from $699). Wonder which it is, Mr Thompson?

Is The 4pm Late Check-Out at The Trump Las Vegas Worth It?

It would take a lot for us to recommend The Trump Las Vegas to anyone. On our stay there last year, the hotel had a series of malfunctions which probably could have been overlooked except for the fact that a train rode behind the hotel several times in the middle of the night, blasting its horn too. Which meant we got the worst night's sleep ever.
So even though the Trump has been offering some killer deals as of late for its all-suite accommodations (as low as $89 a night), we still find it hard to give this hotel another chance.
However, when we were scoping out room rates for the hotel this weekend on Expedia we noticed that Trump is offering a 4pm late check-out for guests. Now we're talking.

Ivanka Trump Giving Away a Three-Night Stay at Trump LV for a Lucky Bride

Ivanka Trump jewelry catalogs can be found in-room at the Trump Las Vegas.
Looks like Ivanka Trump is not afraid to reach out to the masses. Our sister site, HotelChatter, reported last week that Ivanka would be giving one lucky Twitter follower a chance to win a two-night stay at the Trump Soho in New York as well as attend a fancy schmancy gala to celebrate the hotel's opening.
But if NYC isn't in your destination plans, Brides.com reports that Ivanka is offering one lucky bride a pair of 18K gold wedding bands from the Ivanka Trump Collection, $500 gift cards to Ivanka Trump Collection for members of your wedding party, a complimentary consultation with Trump Event experts and a three-night stay at the Trump Las Vegas.

Labor Day Insanity: Downtown Is Still The Cheapest
It’s no surprise that rooms are still available for this Labor Day Weekend. But if you plan to make Las Vegas your end-of-summer, last-hurrah destination, you’d do well to book now as room rates are creeping up.
That’s true especially among the middle- and lower-tier properties around town. According to Expedia.com, you can still get a smokin’ deal at properties downtown (average room rate at the The Plaza for the weekend is $45 per night; the El Cortez is $51 per night and the Four Queens is $74 per night), but some of the less desirable places on the Strip have shot up past the $100-per-night mark. Circus Circus alone stands below that benchmark at a reasonable $96 per night for the three-day weekend, while places like Excalibur are going for $124, Imperial Palace for $127 and Sahara for $112.

Inside a One-Bedroom Suite at Trump Las Vegas
In continuing our Las Vegas hotel room education, we'd like to show you this video which was shot last August at the Trump Las Vegas. The Trump is located next to Fashion Show Mall so it's not squarely on the Strip but it's not that far from it either.
The rooms are priced very reasonable for all that you get--one bedroom suites with full kitchens. The spa and the pool area are blissfully serene and most important, quiet. If you hate the Vegas pool party scene, you will find peace at The Trump pool.
But after our stay there last year, the bad far outweighed the good.

Downtown is Deal Central as Labor Day Weekend Nears
As we’re accustomed to seeing these days, rates are pretty much all over the map for the last big holiday weekend of the sultry summer season. The good news: there are plenty of rooms still available in Vegas over Labor Day Weekend. The great news: there is some serious value to be had that weekend, too. Here’s a glimpse of what’s currently available at The absolute lowest rates in the resort corridor seem to be those on offer at downtown’s Gold Spike. It ain’t glamorous, folks, but it claims a certain old-school Vegas appeal in the eyes of some people. Meanwhile, average rates there over Labor Day Weekend (which we’re identifying as the three nights from Friday, September 4, until Monday, September 7) are a practically laughably low $40 per night.

Trump Might be the Best Deal in Town for Memorial Day
There are most definitely still rooms available in Vegas for Memorial Day Weekend, and in case you’ve not been paying attention, that’s a mere three days away.
Based on a cursory search for last-minute deals on Expedia, average prices on the Strip for the three-night stretch from Friday to Monday range from $83 per night (Sahara) all the way up to $372 (Wynn).
Some interesting notes: Planet Hollywood’s three-night average of $252 is actually $10 higher than the Venetian’s, which suggests intriguing things about shifting desirability factors on the Strip.

The Spa at Trump Las Vegas Is Good for The Heart

The exterior of The Trump International Hotel Las Vegas is decked out in gold—and not just any gold. It is Trump, so of course we’re talking 24-carat-plated gold glass windows.
But beginning tomorrow, the hotel’s spa is going red.
The Trump Gold Package, a partnership with the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women, includes: a 40-minute gold body scrub, a 40-minute gold facial, a 40-minute Trump massage, and a gold bar box set. The cost is $189, plus a $25 donation to the American Heart Association.
The Trump Las Vegas is an all-suite hotel that has been offering bargain-basement rates as of late, like $89 a night. Although, our sis HotelChatter stayed there over the summer and pretty much hated it. Aside from having no casino, the rooms were not sound-proofed and a train ran by several times during the night. We say stay elsewhere and hit up the spa on a day trip.
The Trump Gold spa package lasts through June 30, and reservations can be made by calling 1-702.476.8000 or emailing trumplvspa@trumphotels.com.
