Goretorium Adds Female DJs... And, Live Exorcisms?

February 14, 2013 at 2:49 PM | by | Comments (0)

Trust Goretorium to do something different for Valentine's Day. We recently puzzled over the lack of V Day theming at the year-round horror haunt. Other than the ability to get married by a vampire, or dressed as a zombie. You know, the usual stuff. But, we received word that they will be celebrating today with a couple of additions to the Goretorium experience.

Tonight will be the first night of a new, bi-monthly DJ event called Stereo Love. Held in the Baby Dolls Lounge, the bar with the million dollar view of the Vegas Strip, the twist is all the tune spinners will be female. And, out in force. For tonight's Valentine reveal, DJ Miss Joy, DJ Miyuki, DUWOPRose The Vinylist and DJ Crykit will kick off the series. You still have time to make plans. It runs from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Tickets are $5 and free for locals. And, they will announce future dates in the series soon.

Singletons Invited To Speed (Date) Their Way Through Valentine's At Plaza

February 8, 2013 at 5:34 PM | by | Comment (1)

All the single ladies (and single men) in Vegas looking for love and dreading February 14 should consider spending V Day at downtown's Z Bar. The new casino bar at the Plaza (formerly Anthony Cools' Swingers Club Drink), Z Bar will host a free speed dating session on the most romantic (or painful) day of the year.

Head there starting at 7 p.m. to make a possible love connection and to enjoy free-flowing booze specials. The Plaza will try to find your perfect match until 11 p.m. that night. After that, you'll be on your own. Or, on your way to an awesome night of public sex and a morning after walk of shame. Not that we would know anything about either of those.

How To Wine and Dine Your Sweetheart On Valentine's Day

January 16, 2012 at 1:23 PM | by | Comments (0)

Valentine's Day is less than a month away now. And, if you're planning to spend it with your special someone in Vegas (and coming out of your room at some point), the time to make your dinner reservations is now.

Of course, restaurants with a view will be a big draw for romantics. There are the Strip dining views of The Cosmopolitan and the lakeside views of many of Bellagio's restaurants, from Picasso (seen above) and Prime to Olive's and Yellowtail. (And, let's not forget about the new phenomenal views of Hyde.) You can also get high on love at above-it-all restos like Mix at Mandalay Bay, Alize at the Palms and Voodoo at Rio.

Where You Can Still Nab A Sweet Valentines Suite

February 11, 2011 at 11:31 AM | by | Comments (0)

Still don't know what to do for you sweetie for Valentines Day? There are still some pretty posh suites available for booking in Vegas. Grab one now, then just call your hon at work, tell them to feign food poisoning, meet them at the airport and celebrate your love for Vegas for each other in the skies, as well as in Sin City.

Here are four cool spots still available to find your groove in. The bad news? Impromptu romance comes at a cost. The good news? You can tell your lover that's money is no object, because if you're paying these rates, it's true.

Mandarin Oriental's Apex Suites (shown at top)
Rates: $2,906 per night, February 11-14
Romance Factor: If only the highest of brand names will do for your sweetie, MO is just about as ritzy as you can go. The Vegas property's Apex Suites are all on high floors and on the building's corners providing 270-degree views of the city from your bed, giving you an eyeful no matter where you look.
Note: Book the "Lucky In Love" offer online to receive a third night free

●The One-Bedroom SKYLOFTS of MGM Grand

Rates: Tonight, $1,800; Saturday, $2,800; Sunday, $1,800; Monday, $1,500
Romance Factor: MGM's SKYLOFTS are on the hotel's top two floors so it's hard not to have a spectacular view here. Then, when you throw in complimentary airport transfers in a Maybach, a mammoth jacuzzi tub, an oversized steam shower with multiple wall and overhead jets (ahem), complimentary butler service for your every whim and desire and complimentary porn adult channels for, ummm, your every whim and desire. It will be hard not to feel the love here.
Note: Check out the special "Luxury" offer online for a $100 spa credit and daily $50 in-Loft credit

Vegas One Of Least Romantic Cities? We'd Like Our Dollar Back, Redbox

February 8, 2011 at 4:44 PM | by | Comment (1)

What the hell, Redbox? Vegas is one of the nation's least romantic cities just because we don't rent romantic comedies out of a big, err, red box? Well, we've got news for you, Vegas hater, we've got more romance than you think.

Sure it might be cheesy (or, at times, extremely uncomfortable) as hell, but it's all around. From the couple not afraid to be serenaded during a gondola ride down a faux canal to the old guy deep-throating his girl (or someone's girl) to the tune of "My Heart Will Go On" in front of Bellagio's fountains (yes, we've seen both).

Also, what about the 100,000 couples that tie the knot here each year? Sure, it's don't-need-a-degree easy (either college or high school), but if you've never been to a wedding where Elvis gives away a tearful bride, well, let us tell you that it can be downright magical. Sure you may scoff at calling these examples romantic, but you probably also scoff at seeing the beauty in Sin City, too, just because we don't rent a lot of cinematic documentaries, either.

But, if you agree that Cupid is stupid in Vegas, have no fear - there's room on The Strip for both couples and singletons. As much as you'll be able to find hearts, flowers and Vegas cheese throughout Sin City this week, you'll find a few f**kin' perfect ways to celebrate your independence, too.

If you're single and lovin' it, give that bow-and-arrow-toting baby the finger and head to one of these Vegas venues who promise to love you just the way you are. (Sorry, we've been listening to way too much VEVO today.)

Lick It, Shake It Or Bottom's Up, Vegas (Cheese) For Valentines

February 3, 2011 at 3:47 PM | by | Comments (0)

The excitement is ratcheting up. Nerves are fraught, hopes are high. It's going to be a really, really exciting weekend or one that some would like to soon forget... as soon as we get past a certain Big Game.

We really can't think of a better place than Vegas for the most anticipated and/or dreaded date of the year - Valentine's Day. Wanna celebrate your love? Options galore, from ultra-cheesy to over-the-top luxe (and, sometimes both). Want to give Cupid the finger? There's parties for you, too. We'll dish on those next week. Today, three more options for the love- (or lust-) struck:

1. If your sweetheart has a sweet tooth, Lick - the new candy shop at Mandalay Bay - has a way for you to satisfy their craving and mix in a bit of naughty fun, too. While you'll find the usual assortment of candy goods from gummy bears to Pez here, we were particularly tickled by the tongue-in-cheek, or rather, tongue-out-of-mouth logo wear for sale.

Would You Slather Chocolate On Your Face in the Name of Love?

Where: 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. South [map], 89109
February 8, 2010 at 10:19 PM | by | Comments (0)

We like chocolate, we like spa treatments, and baby, oh baby, proper time and place, we like being sexed up. We’re just not so sure about having the brown aphrodisiac smeared all over our face while lying side-by-side our sweetie in a spa context.

We’ll get horizontal with our honey for a couples’ massage, especially at one of our Strip fave spas, Qua Baths & Spa at Caesars Palace, but his and hers chocolate facials? Hmm…the verdict is out on this one, but we’re certain there’s no way in hell we could get our significant other to sign on for a chocolate aphrodiasic facial – for Valentine’s Day or otherwise.

The visual conjures up all sorts of icky thoughts and not of the carnal “I want to lick your face right now” variety.
