Just Behind Rio, Wyndham Desert Blue Debuts

While its marquee proclaims its grand opening, a drive up the porte cochere of Wyndham Desert Blue just after one this afternoon had us questioning if that meant now or soon.

A slow, cautious roll up to the timeshare's lobby was notable for its absence of any other vehicles. A few feet and a slight bend later brought the entrance into view as well as two smiling valet staffers. They were happy to confirm the timeshare was, indeed, open and had been for about a week.

Photo from October.

After a once planned debut of last September and a new target month of November that came and went, Treasure Island's self-dubbed retail-tainment center is still an empty shell today.

CVS has been the only announced tenant for the three-story addition. It will eventually cover the entire ground floor of the building, sprawling some 12,000-15,000 (figures have varied) square feet.

Resorts World Floats New Timeline For Start Of Construction

January 21, 2015 at 1:18 PM | by | Comments (3)

Resorts World today...

Construction of Resorts World, the huge, $4 billion dollar mega-resort planned for the old Echelon site, likely won't begin until possibly a year after Genting once planned.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports today that "the company hopes to break ground on the development sometime between April and June." Business writer Howard Stutz also states the project's top executive, Christian Goode, has left the project. He'll be replaced by another Genting exec, Gerald Gardner.

This Sounds Like The New Opening Date For Bally's Grand Bazaar

Where: 3646 Las Vegas Boulevard [map], 89109

After failing to meet a late December debut, the grand shopping experiment experience in front of Bally's seems to be on track for a late February reveal.

VegasChatter friend Reggie discovered that one of the center's retailers, LUSH, issued a press release touting a February 26 launch. When he took that ball and passed it to us, we found another vendor, Vapor Kings, has also announced a debut of Thursday, February 26. Of course, with some 79 announced tenants and a capacity for 21 to 71 more (official numbers have varied), a rolling launch is most likely but February 26 may be the day it all begins.

The Strip's About To Get Lit Up In A Fancy Way

Bally’s couldn’t let The High Roller have all the glory as a colorful addition to the Vegas skyline. The hotel's Grand Bazaar Shops will sport a sparkly attraction of its own. The outdoor mall was initially scheduled to open this month, but you should now expect a February debut.

The already ridiculously colorful project is upping its visibility game even more with the addition of a Swarovski crystal starburst. Last Friday, the sparkly structure was delivered and installed. The structure is 14 feet in diameter and was a collaboration between Swarovski and The Young Electric Sign Company, better known as YESCO.

So, It Sounds Like Bally's Grand Bazaar Shops Aren't Opening This Month

While on-site signage still cite a debut of fall, a newly created Facebook page for the forthcoming Grand Bazaar Shops at Bally's now places its arrival as this winter.

Facebook'er Angela S. asked Grand Bazaar's page for an opening timeline on December 2. Yesterday, a response pushed back its arrival about two months:

UPDATED: The LINQ's Newest Restaurant Hopes To Dish It Out This Month, After All

12.9 Update: Turn those frowns upside down. A publicist for Off The Strip relays the restaurant is now aiming to open on December 24.

Oh, what a difference a month makes. A few weeks ago, Off The Strip, the newest eatery headed for The LINQ promenade between Flamingo and The LINQ Hotel, touted a December debut. Now, a new press release pushes that back to January.

The restaurant will be a sister establishment to two other off-Strip locations. (See what we did there?) The third locale will be adjacent to O'Sheas at the off the Strip mall. (Oops, we did it again.)

If You're Waiting For Construction To Start On Resorts World, Wait For It...

November 25, 2014 at 9:05 PM | by | Comments (20)

A rendering of phase one for Resorts World.

In 2013, Genting representatives promised construction would start on the highly anticipated Resorts World Las Vegas project by June 2014. That date (obviously) came and went. Then, earlier this year, it was reported work would resume by year's end. Now, it looks like that's been pushed back even more.
