If you've been waiting.. and waiting.. and waiting.. and waiting.. and, well you get the picture.. for Slotzilla, you should probably back out of this story now. The latest rumor on Fremont Street won't make you happy.
Where once we heard this weekend could.. possibly.. see the return of zipliners to downtown, we now have a new rumbling to report. Rumors that Slotzilla won't open until at least April now. This is by no means official. Slotzilla stopped giving an opening timeline long ago. It's also been silent on Twitter of late. Its last tweet was sent on January 29.

When this writer's younger sister turned 16, I took her on New York-New York's roller coaster. It was her first time on a coaster. It was also her last. That means two things. One, I'm a horrible sister. And, two, I'm going to need to find another
sucker sibling to climb into El Loco with me.
Circus Circus announced on Facebook earlier today that its much anticipated coaster will finally take off next week:
Rio's VooDoo Zip Line has a new opening timeline, if not an actual ride just yet.
Today, a hiring call went out for the sky high attraction that has struggled to get off the ground. Originally scheduled to open in August 2013, reps say early March is now the ticket.

At Monte Carlo, the Strip-facing facade of Double Barrel Roadhouse continues to slowly take on the appearance of a self-described "old-world rustic barn saloon." From what we hear, a small overnight fire at the construction site earlier this month isn't really impacting a new opening timeline of March. Double Barrel had once hoped to debut before 2013's end.

Vegas' newest burger joint will fire up the grills by month's end.
Bobby's Burger Palace (BBP) announced a date for its Vegas debut on Facebook while offering fans a chance to meet the
man chef himself, Bobby Flay, during the grand opening:

A week ago, we told you about renewed activity at the site of what was once hoped to be Las Vegas' other observation wheel -- SkyVue Las Vegas Super Wheel. But this construction work was not the hopeful kind.
From watching SkyVue's still operational (for some reason) webcam, it looked as if the scaffolding climbing the wheel's support legs was coming down. And, we were right. It continues to slowly disappear. The photo at top shows how the site appeared on January 8. Below is a snapshot from January 9.
This photo gallery (captured by our @sammasseur) is from yesterday, January 15:
We won't be able to shake it like a Polaroid picture (how can we not write that?) at The Linq's Fotobar until late March (fingers crossed), but there's an easy way to see how things will develop there now.

As construction on the tangled web of bright yellow steel known as El Loco comes to a close, The Adventuredome is looking for eight volunteers
foolish brave enough to ride the new roller coaster before it opens to the public. Interested parties can find contest details and submit entries on the park’s Facebook page.
Just when will El Loco debut? That’s still uncertain, but the answer seems to be sooner rather than later. Perhaps, learning from Slotzilla’s litany.. of.. delays, The Adventuredome has been a bit conservative in regards to revealing an exact opening date. When the ride was initially announced in early 2013, a December 2013 unveiling was anticipated. The park later revised that estimate, stating that first rides would be pushed back until the end of January. We’re willing to let that one slide, especially since The Adventuredome has done an awesome job of posting construction updates online.
A crane has popped up at the construction site for the SkyVue Las Vegas Super Wheel, but if you're hopeful this means the stalled project is picking up steam again (if it really had any to begin with), don't be.
Workers seem to be slowly dismantling the scaffolding and ripped broadcloth that's adorned the wheel's support structures. The activity was spotted yesterday by VegasChatter reader Ben B. who's been keeping an eye on the site via webcam and by VegasChatter Twitter follower @Moved2Vegas who spied the work with his own eyes. @Moved2Vegas reports that the crane turned up on the site on Tuesday.

rosityer zipline downtown was all bright and shiny in December after a Craigslist hiring call, but an opening date was mysteriously missing. One month later, we can confidently say.... nothing has changed. Just the continuance of another Vegas delay originally slotted for a June 2013 opening.
VegasChatter correspondents spoke with a Fremont Street Experience maintenance worker who indicated a February opening was penciled on his calendar, possibly around Valentine's Day. We were unable to confirm if that calendar was Outlook, Google or Britney so file that rumor as you will.
While we continue to wait for an announcement of Slotzilla's debut, the Review-Journal reports rides are expected to cost about $20-30 depending on just how high you want to go. The RJ also has pics and video of test dummies zipping down the ride. No word if they were found via the Craigslist ad or not.
It's time for the fourth annual VegasChatter Awards! Today, we finish bringing you the best and worst of the year. All of our picks are based on what we've personally experienced in Vegas over 2013 -- the good, the bad, and the mind-boggling.
Everyone hates them. Unfortunately in Vegas, almost everyone is paying them now. The year 2013 was a major disappointment when it came to resort fees. And, no one let us down more than Caesars Entertainment which dropped its widely touted "no resort fees: your money, your choice" policy back in February.
The holidays are, of course, a time to spend time with family and friends, to reflect on the past year's accomplishments before announcing those
resolutions goals for the coming year and to knock back the last of that eggnog. Even the constantly running pace of Las Vegas generally slows down come December. By the time New Year's Eve rolls around, though, the city is always back firing on all cylinders and then some.
Since everyone loves a challenge, recent history has started targeting NYE as an opening date. It didn't ultimately happen last year, but in echoing cultural trends, those New Year openings are creeping up even earlier this year. So much so that we needed to make a sh*t list to keep track of sh*t before our monthly wrap of sh*t that's come and gone hits the
Here's what jolly Las Vegas is bringing us before year's end:
