The Wait Is (Finally) Over For This Trop DoubleTree Mashup

The Tropicana was originally supposed to start taking reservations as a DoubleTree this month, "sometime" in January. Then, the hotel said it would happen earlier, "sometime" in December. Then the date switched back to January -- the 31st. Now, the Trop/Doubletree website says the 10th, which is today. Consider us officially confused.
A return to the website at 1 p.m. PST found that, yes, reservations are finally being accepted via DoubleTree. After poking around the site, room rates appear to start at $59 a night. When we checked rates on Tropicana's website last week, rates were starting around the $54.99 mark. A $19.95 resort fee is also still in effective.

Book Your Stay At The Trop, Err, DoubleTree Starting Next Month

Things may not be official official until January, but the Tropicana is already an acknowledged part of the DoubleTree family.
VegasChatter fan dac007 let us know over the weekend that the Trop, excuse us, Tropicana Las Vegas - A DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel is already on the DT website:

It's a done deal. I'm a Hilton Honors member and they already have the hotel on the website, won't be taking any reservations until December but they have taken that hotel over. I can't wait, I'm a gold member and they always upgrade me for free to a suite.

Delano To Be In Vegas For At Least 10 Years

The Delano won't officially take over THEhotel at Mandalay Bay until the end of 2013, but when it does expect the brand to stay on the Vegas Strip for at least a decade.
During its quarterly earnings report on Friday, Morgans Hotel Group (Delano's parent brand) stated that its agreement with MGM Resorts (Mandalay's parent group) would be part of a 10-year licensing agreement, with the ability to tack on two five-year extensions. To bring the Delano brand to Las Vegas, MGM Resorts has agreed to foot all the costs of the renovations and will manage the new property, too, while Morgans will kick back and collect (some of) the dough:

Is DoubleTree Taking Over Trop's Hotel?

It's no surprise to anyone that the Tropicana is still, umm, finding its way, not to put too fine a point on it. Everything is new again there, but everything is constantly changing there, too, with a roller coaster of openings, closings and returns.
Earlier this year, there was a rumor eating its way around town that Bagatelle would not only bring a beach club-slash-supper club-slash-nightclub to Trop, but -- eventually -- a hotel as well. Now, there's another new whisper circulating through Vegas folks in the know -- that DoubleTree is taking over hotel operations at the Trop.

It's No Rumor, Siegel Is Working On Another Suite New Vegas Hotel

We heart one so much that it pained us to write something disparaging. Another gives us naked experts, poolside. While another yet impressed us despite being not too fancy.
