In San Francisco? Fly to Vegas for Under $100

December 17, 2009 at 4:36 PM | by juliab | 0 Comments

Two happy kids enjoy a Virgin America flight from SFO to LAS

Calling all San Franciscoers: if you want to come out to Vegas in the new year, Virgin America has some pretty sweet prices at the moment.

The current Fares to Fly By promo has seats from $39 (plus tax) each way, meaning a return journey costs a total of $99.20. You’ll need to book by 21st December and travel between 4 January - 10 February, or 5-23 May.

Looking through the website, we found a fair bit of availability on the first set of dates, in January and February, and a little less in May. Outside of those dates, the cheapest is $49 each way, but those were a lot harder to pin down. So if we were you, we’d come on over as a New Year treat.

Chase the Green Fairy; Get a Suite Stay in Vegas?

September 23, 2009 at 6:19 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

It may be hard to believe but absinthe could actually get you a free trip to Vegas. And not the kind of trip that happens in your mind. Virgin America and its onboard green fairy, Le Tourment Vert have partnered up for a new contest where one random winner will get a weekend in Vegas in a Palms Fantasy Suite.

OK, so Le Tourment Vert is not the real potent type of absinthe that made Oscar Wilde go crazy but it's a cool way to relieve that anxiety when you're up in the air. Beats a boring old Chardonnay that's for sure.

Called The Suite Surrender, the promotion is painless. All you have to do is submit your name, email address and your ultimate Las Vegas fantasy at Flavorpill. Entering your info will also put you on the email list for Flavorpill and Le Tourment Vert, just FYI.

The contest closes on September 30 and the winner will be announced October 1. The prize is a flight for two from the nearest city that Virgin America flies to Las Vegas and a weekend stay in one of the Palms Fantasy suites. Needless to say, you must be 21 and older to enter and win this contest.

In the meantime, feel free to chase the green fairy onboard Virgin America for $8 a pop.

Flights To Vegas Now Even More Wild With Spontaneous Nudity

August 20, 2009 at 8:07 PM | by EK | 0 Comments

Well, that happened: on Southwest Airlines Flight 943, Vegas-bound from Oakland, earlier today, one of the passengers decided to get naked, or expose himself. It's being reported differently in a few different outlets. Whatever happened, some part of someone was definitely naked, and it definitely provoked some kind of fisticuffs on the plane.

The Most Natural Partnership in Vegas: The Hard Rock and Virgin America

Where: 4455 Paradise Road [map], 89169

It’s the most holy of alliances. Virgin America, the rock ‘n’ roll airline, has teamed up with Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel for a special promotion. From now until December 30, you can get a 30-percent-off rate at Hard Rock Hotel when you book three nights or more. While VA’s promo offer suggests the special is good “exclusively” for Elevate – its frequent-flier program – members, the Hard Rock’s site is also running a “Summer Special” on it Web site that seems to offer exactly the same deal.

Normal rates for next Friday night (July 31), for example, in a king-sized room are $259. With the discount (either via VA or Summer Specials) that means you pay only $181 and change. Here’s an unexpected perk, too: while Saturday night, August 1, is totally sold out if you try to book it through the regular “reservations” tab on the HRH’s Web site, if you book by clicking on the “Summer Specials” button, you can actually score a room. It’s $499, mind you, but it’s there.

While we’re scratching our head as to how VA can claim "exclusivity" for the offer, it’s not a bad deal. Check this out: if you’re interested in booking a room during the mid-week in December, your rate is a low, low price of $48 per night. Holiday shopping junket, anyone?

Virgin America Puts Vegas Flights On Sale

April 14, 2009 at 3:38 PM | by Erika Pope | 0 Comments

Virgin America may be new, but it’s pushing all the right buttons with its growing customer base. Fliers dig the groovy mood lighting, seat-to-seat chat technology, mini-bar service and in-flight entertainment system that includes TV, pay-per-view movies and more than 3,000 MP3s.

Lucky for you, it’s having a fare sale through April 20, which means cheap flights to Vegas from the four nonstop markets it serves (San Fran, Seattle, New York and DC).
