World Series Of Beer Pong To Trade Booze For Water

November 21, 2013 at 5:28 PM | by | ()

The World Series of Beer Pong will bounce (sorry) back into Las Vegas January 1-5 trading Hard Rock for the Flamingo this time around.

Some 1,000 players from more than a dozen countries are expected to compete for $50k in cash prizes. If you want to be one of them, you have until December 10 to register. But, a big buzz kill may be a move by the WSOBP to switch brews for H2O:

Chaos. Balls. Beer.

January 8, 2013 at 3:06 PM | by | ()

We're always curious to experience new things in Las Vegas. Even though the†World Series of Beer Pong (WSOBP) has been around for almost 10 years we needed to see what it was all about in person. The WSOBP was exactly what anyone would imagine,†times 10.

The WSOBP is held in a ballroom that you probably never realized existed, far away on the second floor of the Flamingo. On the first day of WSOBP, there were about 100 tables set up. The action was chaotic with that many games going on at once. The loud up-tempo mix of rock, pop and hip-hop only made things feel as if they were moving faster. People were dancing, taunting, jumping around, drinking and having a great time.

Imagine the old beer pong area at O'Sheas, but 10 times larger. This was a bro event. There were bro's dressed like it was Sunday afternoon and there were bro's in uniforms and then there were two awful performing bro's in bath robes that probably used WSOBP as an excuse to visit Las Vegas (and who could blame them).

Show Off Your Beer Pong Skills, Win $50K

December 5, 2012 at 12:04 PM | by | ()

Two guys and ten cups with a $50,000 dream.

Another year nears closure which means many sports enthusiasts have another year of beer pong practice under the beer belts. The 8th annual World Series of Beer Pong returns to the Flamingo January 1-5 to hand out $70,000 in suds soaked prize money.

The best ponger from a field of teams expected to exceed 500 will take home $50,000 while those with more creative tastes can take aim at other prize money, including $5,000 in costume prizes. It should be noted that the WSOBP doesn't discriminate against non-beer drinkers. Official WSOBP rules - yes, rules - allow for cups to be filled with beer, water, or any liquid. Water? Beer drinking athletes of the world, please don't let us down.

Throwdown Some Beer Pong Downtown

Beer Pong may be down with the closure of O'Shea's, but it's not out. Those particular tables have shacked up at Bill's and cups can be setup elsewhere, too, but mostly around the Strip. So, where's a beer pong pundit to go downtown?

Our prediction had been for The D to add some beer pong against their backdrop of dancing dealers. But, competitive beer drinkers can, instead, sink it at Golden Nugget.

Are those bleachers? So you can sit and drink while watching other people drink. And lean.

When a world championship event is in our own backyard and on top of that promotes drinking, itís right up our alley. Encouraging our habits, the World Series of Beer Pong returns to the Flamingo on January 1-5, 2011. Thatís right, five days of Beer Pong.

But our marriage of liquids and sports doesnít end there. We love discounts and Vegas locals that wish to compete in WSOBP VI can enter and save money this year. Residents of Las Vegas and its surrounding areas (Boulder City, Henderson, Mesquite, North Las Vegas and Pahrump) are eligible for $150 off their package entry. College students, of legal age of course, can also get in on the cheap with a Southern Nevada student id.
