Enjoy 'Fresh Dead Fish' At Mandalay Bay Starting Tuesday

Whenever someone has asked where to go for sushi on The Strip, this writer's answer has always been Yellowtail at Bellagio. But, a Vegas dilemma is imminent as Kumi, Yellowtail Chef Akira Back's second Vegas restaurant, prepares to open just down the road at Mandalay Bay.

Kumi will officially debut in the space that once housed China Grill this Tuesday, July 23. (Although, don't be surprised to see it operating a few days before as part of a soft opening.)

Time For Restaurant Week Again Already?

Last fall, Restaurant Week treated Las Vegas with a twice as nice, two week eating extravaganza. Restaurant Week 2012 brings another double dose as a spring week has been added February 27 to March 4. This month's event is only one week, giving our still recovering waistbands a bit of relief. The event's website has a list of over 50 and growing restaurants offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner from $20.12 to $50.12. Some options popping out at us include:

Or, at least what passes for celebrities, these days...

Sometimes, it's not what you eat that's important, but where you eat. Especially, if you're more interested in who may be sitting next to you then what's on the menu. In truth, there's a good chance that you'll run into a celebrity no matter what you do in Vegas - VegasChatter has seen Tommy Lasorda taking a spill at Bellagio, Rene Angelil in Caesars' food court, and even had James Brown invite us to his room one night, back in the day. (We passed, btw, shudder)

If you don't want to leave it to chance, though, there are several dining hotspots up and down The Strip that are hot with the celebrity set, too. Here are our top six, in no particular order:

Matt Goss Croons, Vegas Restos Collect For Japan Quake Relief

In the face of horrific tragedy, it can seem trite, even opportunistic, when Vegas restos, shows and personalities chose to publicly do something to show they care. But, we'd like to believe that Vegas can be heartfelt, too, even if a wee bit self-promotional.

With a tragic 22,000 dead or missing now in Japan after a devastating March 11 quake and tsunami, Caesars crooner Matt Goss turned to what he does best to show the depth of his emotion.
