The Only Cosmo Mag You Need to Read in Vegas
Yes, that is some room with a view
There are, presumably, some people still left who, when they hear the word “Cosmo”, think magazine.
Yes, these people are not like us. They don’t geek out watching hotel marquees light up in 100 degree heat, they don’t feel a frisson when they get a sneak peek at forthcoming hotel rooms and they definitely don’t plan their meals five months in advance.
And it’s probably to redeem our street cred a little bit that The Cosmopolitan has launched its own Cosmo magazine. Ok, for “magazine” read “broadsheet newspaper-sized brochure”, but very pretty it is too.

Even Superman Watched the Cosmo Light Up Yesterday
Even Superman wants in on the Cosmo
So as you’ll know if you follow us on Twitter, we spent an hour yesterday afternoon wilting standing in the sun by the Harley Davidson Café. Only a crazy kind of love would cause us to do such a thing, but our love for The Cosmopolitan is growing stronger by the day at the moment.
Yes, the Cosmo switched on its marquee yesterday, four and a half months before it opens on December 15. It was so exciting that people stopped on the Strip, came out of the Harley D to look, and even Superman crossed over Harmon to get a closer peek.

Social House Now Affordable with Daily 'Social Hour'

While we're happy that Social House is once again open on the Strip inside The Crystals, our wallets are not so happy about the restaurant's hefty prices with specialty rolls ranging from $10 to $20. However, there's a way around that.
From 5 to 7pm, Social House serves up $8 cocktails and specials and $4 domestic beer. Another way to go cheap at Social House? Bring a local with you as they get 20 percent off the bill Sundays-Thursdays so long as they show their Nevada ID.
Poor locals, they must always be getting strung along by visitors just for the deals. Treat 'em nice will ya?

Is CityCenter Just Using The Veer Towers for Advertising Purposes?
UPDATE: The Veer Towers have officially opened!
If you've ever read The New Yorker, then you'll know it takes forever to get through the magazine's articles. That's because they are often several pages long with only one lead photo followed by a second one deeper in the story, if you're lucky, and the subject matter is fairly complex. Except those for those funny cartoons. Har-har.So we were taking our sweet old time with the May 10th issue and when we finished it the other night, we turned it over to see an ad for CityCenter! CityCenter been's courting the New Yorker crowd for quite some time but sending nerdy intellectual types to Vegas isn't what threw us off here. It was the prominence of the Veer Towers, the leaning residential condo-buildings which despite selling some units recently, according to the LVRJ, have no clear opening date.

If Only We Didn't Have to Leave Our Room at Aria
So last week we spent two nights at Aria exactly six months after it had opened. Back in December, we only toured the hotel rooms, casino and restaurants. But this time we got the FULL effect. And how was it? Mixed. Very mixed. Aria, if you are reading this review--pay attention.
Check-In
Check-in took about 20 minutes because of some snafu with our reservation and the promo code we used. But all worked out well and our rate was honored. We were then sent on our way to room 19036. Upon stepping out of the elevator on the 19th floor, we had to study the room numbers sign really hard to find where our room might be located. Then when we started walking to our room, the numbers seemed to be in the wrong order. It started off with something like 19236 and then after a few doors, it reset to 19000.
We didn't really understand this but we pressed on and found our room near the very end of the hallway. It two minutes to get from our room to the elevator each time (without luggage), which is, despite what you'd think, is a long time. It also instilled a sense of dread in us about leaving our room. How long is the walk going to take this time, we thought?

Aria is Actually Reading Your Nasty Reviews on TripAdvisor

The lobby at Aria.
Once upon a time in a enchanting desert not too far away from Los Angeles but still a four-hour plane flight from New York, there was a magical city that seemingly popped up out of nowhere. This city boasted glittering hotels, bustling casinos, busty showgirls, exotic acrobats, suave lounge singers, an ambiguously gay duo magician/animal trainer act and a fear of the internet.
Yes, before Vegas was all a-Twitter and a-Facebook, the hotel-casinos populating the Strip and beyond really had no idea how to handle this bewildering new monster at its kingdom's door.
Slowly but surely, Vegas began to see how the internet could be bring in even more tourism business by fleshing out their hotel websites, cobbling together special web offers and saturating the internet with ads.

Aria Strips Down Further for the Summer

When VegasChatter last wrote about this killer deal at Aria, we had to update it because a new offer came online that was even better--$109 for the weeknights, $139 on the weekends with a $75 resort fee thrown in.
This deal was so good that one person here at VC, we're not going to name names, promptly booked the deal for a Thursday-Saturday stay in June. But today, a tipster tells us that Aria has dropped the prices further by $10. Check this deal here. So that makes weekdays $99 and weekends $129. The $75 resort credit remains. Amazeballs!

Vdara Has $109 Rooms With $50 Resort Credit This Summer
We’ve been keeping track of the awesome deals that Aria has been quietly pushing lately, but Vdara has always seemed a little more of a closed book.
But closed no more, because it’s just launched a Summer Offer that’s not bad at all: rooms from $109 Sunday to Thursday, and only $149 at weekends.
We say “from”, but so far, every single date is available at those prices (until September 2, when the offer ends). And what’s more, you get a $50 resort credit thrown in (we suggest you use it on the spa – although careful how you get dressed, ladies).

Is Monte Carlo The Solution to Aria's Valet Blues?
So far we haven’t been a big fan of the valet situation at Aria but we’ve given them a couple passes as they sort out the kinks. The self-park garage is a whole ‘nother story as it’s harder to locate and navigate than a Courtney Love interview. Whether you’ve given up on parking at Aria altogether or just don’t want the valet lifting that El DeBarge cassette buried under the passenger seat, what are your options?

Before You Get Nakey at Vdara Spa, Ladies, Check The Monorail's Empty
Never ones to miss a bargain, we bagsied one of the $50 facials for Spa Week that were going down at Vdara Health & Beauty and had a good nose around.
In general, we liked the place a lot. Two relaxation rooms (or rather, one relaxation and one meditation), fairly upbeat music on loop instead of some whale dirge, and a jar full of elastic hairbands for us to swipe use. Most importantly, though, we liked the fact that it was flooded with natural light instead of the poky womb effect most places have.

Is It Time for Aria to Sort Out its Valet?
The cluster-um-muck for Aria valet on Viva Elvis night
Before last night, we had only valeted at Aria twice. Neither time had we been too impressed, but we’d made excuses.
The first time, the queue for the valet was stretching halfway down to the Strip, but hey, it was the premiere of Viva Elvis. The second, we waited 25 minutes to pick up our car, then saw it sitting, locked, at the very front of the carpark. We had to go ask the guy in the booth for our keys, and drive it off ourself. But hey, it was 3am on a Friday night, so they were probably tired, right?
Well last night we officially got tired of the Aria valet after we turned up at 9pm to find it “full”. Yes, full. On a Wednesday night. Really, we asked the valet. Are all those spaces (we were once told there were several thousand valet spots) really full? Apparently so.

Get Your Skates On For $50 Beauty Treatments At CityCenter
The spa at Vdara
Here’s a sweet deal from the spas at Aria and Vdara: in honor of national Spa Week (April 12-18) they’re offering $50 treatments during those dates.
At Aria, you can get a 50-minute Thai Clay Aromatherapy Wrap worth $175 (they had some massages going too, but we just called and they’ve already sold out).
Over at Vdara, or Vdara Health & Beauty to give it its fancy name, your choices are a Pure Results Facial worth $135, or a Champagne Pedicure or a salon blow-out, though the last two are only saving you $25 a pop.
Availability’s very tight so get booking now. Call Aria at 877 312 ARIA or Vdara at 866 391 7111.
