Encore Beach Club Set To Make Lucky Return

Where: 3131 Las Vegas Blvd South [map], 89109
February 23, 2012 at 1:48 PM | by | Comments (4)

Over the last few weeks, we've told you where you can make a splash in Vegas now, gave you a sneak peek at what you'll be enjoying poolside this summer, and have told you when Vegas pools will start to get into the swim of things.

Now, St. Patrick's Day will be even luckier for Vegas visitors this year as Encore Beach Club will dive into the adult pool scene on March 17. Starting that weekend, the hot dayclub will welcome the scantily clad every Saturday and Sunday, with the exception of Easter. The pool's grand opening will take place on Saturday, April 21. Once that takes place, you'll be able to layout Friday through Sunday.

What A Sweet Suite Will Run You For A Last-Minute Valentine's Getaway to Vegas

February 10, 2012 at 8:39 PM | by | Comments (0)

Maybe you didn't realize how big of a deal Valentine's Day was to your significant other. Maybe your hopes of getting on Mobbed for a surprise proposal fell short. Whatever the reason, you're contemplating a last-minute trip to Vegas for Valentine's Day. At just about the eleventh hour.

So, what's left out there and how much will it cost you? Well, the answer to the first question is just about everything. Of the suites we had in mind, all were available. And, even poking around at some other choices, we still found online availability. As to the second answer, there's the rub. Of the five sweet suites we singled out below, each ranges from $839.99 to $329. And, yes, that's just for one night. The most romantic of them all, February 14.

Strip View Suite
The service and luxury of Mandarin paired with sensational views

If You Can't Wait For Pool Season, Here's Where You Can Dive In Now

January 31, 2012 at 3:37 PM | by | Comment (1)

Don't hate us for saying this. But, we've been running around Vegas in short sleeves again. Some of us even in shorts.

For being in the dead of winter, we wouldn't mind if pool season kicked off right now. Especially with a forecast for the week ahead listing highs in the mid-60s, for the most part.

And, while you'll need to wait until at least March to really show off the results of that Zumba class, if you really can't stand to go another day without diving back into the Vegas pool scene -- don't forget. There's always Bellagio, Aria, Wynn, Encore and Hooters.

Tasted: Society Cafe at Encore

Where: 3131 Las Vegas Boulevard South [map], 89109
January 19, 2012 at 4:00 PM | by | Comments (4)

We have never had a bad meal at any restaurant at Wynn so when a friend asked us to meet at Society Cafe for lunch we were pretty stoked. Society Cafe is located in Encore and has the European touch with the creamy decor one would expect. The restaurant felt very rich and airy when we walked in. This felt as if it was the perfect place for a relaxing lunch.

We weren't feeling too fancy when we looked at the menu so we had a simple organic turkey sandwich which came with applewood bacon (the main reason we went this route). We shunned the avocado, because we always shun avocado. (Sorry, avocado.) Everything tasted very fresh as we have come to expect from a Wynn restaurant.

The Vegas Pool Season Will Be Back In A Splash, err, Flash

January 3, 2012 at 5:58 PM | by | Comments (3)

We hate to brag, but it's hovering around 70 degrees this week in Vegas. People were even tweeting about wearing shorts and tees on New Year's Eve:

So, forgive us about getting excited about one more Vegas perk -- the approaching return of the pool party season.

To Valet or Not To Valet... That is the Question

December 20, 2011 at 5:40 PM | by | Comments (4)

We're flexible and open to different experiences which we find every day in Vegas. Sometimes, the more mundane activities in our lives make us wonder what other people do and if they consciously act like we do. When we park sometimes we'll drop at the valet (which is always free plus any tips we leave) and sometimes we'll park ourselves. Really, it's about convenience for us. If it's easier for us to self park and get to our location, we will. If it's easier to get to our destination by valet, we'll do that.

We'll always use valet at Planet Hollywood, because their parking area leaves us in the back of the Miracle Mile Shops and about a 10-15 minute walk to the casino which is much less convenient than the valet which puts us a quick escalator ride into the center of the casino.

One Fun Thing: Encore, Wynn and Fashion Show Mall

December 7, 2011 at 1:46 PM | by | Comments (5)

Let’s paint a scenario. You’re in Las Vegas. You’ve done all of the obvious touristy things, but you want to know something not-so-obvious to do. Something fun and different. This series will walk you down The Strip, a few properties at a time, offering one fun and different thing to do at each. We hope you enjoy it and find something new to check out the next time you are in town.

We hope you enjoyed our first post in the One Fun Thing series. As we head further south down Las Vegas Boulevard, past all of the empty construction lots and strip malls, we find ourselves looking at three places before Sands Ave. Since Wynn Resorts treats Wynn and Encore as separate hotels, we will, too. Without further adieu, here is one fun thing at Wynn, Encore, and The Fashion Show Mall.

What Happens When The Vegas Virgins Are Your Parents

October 12, 2011 at 6:25 PM | by | Comments (4)

The Mirage Volcano. Now approved by the 'rents.

What a strange concept to us. What do we recommend people -- that are the polar opposites of ourself -- do in Las Vegas? And, those people? Our parents. Our parents who don't gamble, don't drink and don't seek out fine dining. They've spent their lives earning enough money to retire and live a nice modest life. Unlike their son, they don't look to frivolously spend their hard-earned money.

Our parents recently broke their Vegas cherry and we, of course, helped provide some things to do. Our parents, like us, are children of the East Coast. They've never been this far west, so there was a lot to explain when booking travel since they haven't been on an airplane since they had to use a travel agent. We love booking travel, especially when it isn't our money.

Once flights were booked we went to our Total Rewards account to see what rooms might be available for free or cheap. Thankfully, we found a week of comp rooms. Much like small children, we didn't want to shock our parents too much when choosing a hotel room so we chose Harrah's since it's not too flashy or glitzy. The room was modest, functional, in a good location and free. With an upgrade, we were able to get a mini-suite with "vintage" 80's motif. Additionally, Harrah's would also allow our parents to keep expenses down as it has plenty of inexpensive food options nearby, like Denny's, McDonalds and the Casino Royale food court.

More Vegas Pools Closing, But New Daytime Alternative Opens Soon

October 5, 2011 at 11:58 AM | by | Comments (0)

UPDATE: Encore Beach Club announced this afternoon that it is now closed for the season. Recent rainy weather is being blamed for the cancellation of the season-ending bash this Saturday.

The only thing worse than a few days of rain and overcast skies in Vegas is that it is ruining some of our last few days to hit the Vegas pools!

WET REPUBLIC at MGM Grand is already all dried up for the season. Bare at Mirage will celebrate boobies one last time on October 17. Now, comes news that Encore Beach Club will hold its last hurrah this Saturday, October 8 is closed while Marquee Dayclub at Cosmo will hold its last blow-out poolside bash with DJ Dirty South the following day on October 9.

New Changes To Wynn's Red Card

September 22, 2011 at 1:13 PM | by | Comments (0)

It's the time of the year where it seems like the casinos are trying to one up one another in a specific area of marketing. Right now, we're looking at Players Club improvements. Last week, we saw Station Casinos upgrade their Boarding Pass Players Club. Earlier this week, we read about rumored changes to M Life on the horizon. Now, we have Wynn making changes to its Red Card Players Club. Wynn's stated goal is to make earning points and comps easier. We're not sure they did that. Here's how point earnings will breakdown now:

For every $1.50 you play on reel slot machines, you will earn 1 point. Meanwhile, earning points at video poker is a little more sketchy -- for every $6 or $15 you play (depending on the poker game) you earn 1 point. Our guess is the worse the video poker pay tables are, the better your comps. Everything else will remain the same and your Red Card will continue to serve as your room key. So, don't get confused like we almost did when we ran into this at Flamingo.

Dreaming about Casino Nirvana

September 21, 2011 at 12:28 PM | by | Comment (1)

When we go to Vegas, we rarely spend time in just one place. This is obviously because Vegas has so much to offer from a variety of properties that each have a unique and different feel. But more than that, it’s because no one place has everything that we like about Las Vegas. To talk about everything we like in a Las Vegas property would take up too much time in your day, so we’ll just focus on casinos. If we could design our perfect casino, these are the pieces would we incorporate from various Las Vegas properties.

Video Poker from M Resort - We love that we can play video poker and enjoy microbrews at the 32 degrees bar at M Resort. Fewer and fewer bars are comping drinks while playing machines at the bar, and even if they do, those drinks are usually bottom shelf booze. At least at 32 degree we can get our microbrew fix while playing a very reasonable 8/5 Jacks or Better game.

Inside a Room at Encore Las Vegas (Properly)

Where: 3131 Las Vegas Boulevard South [map], 89109
September 16, 2011 at 6:48 PM | by | Comments (0)

We've written about Encore endlessly here on VegasChatter but it occurred to us that we haven't given you a proper video and photo gallery tour of the guestrooms. So without further adieu here it is!

But to be entirely honest, the photos are from Room 3132 while the video is from another stay a year earlier on the 18th floor but in the same room category. Don't worry, when you're drunk you won't be able to tell the difference!
