Donny and Marie: Back Tonight, Plus Extra Shows For April

Where: 3555 Las Vegas Blvd South [map], 89109
March 9, 2010 at 11:53 AM | by juliab | 0 Comments

Marie Osmond is a trooper. Not only are she and Donny back at the Flamingo tonight after missing a mere six shows in the wake of her son’s death, but they’re also scheduling new shows running April 13-17 (which was meant to be their vacation) to make up for the dates they cancelled.

According to Johnny Kats, Marie’s looking forward to working again, finding it “cathartic”. Let's hope so.

Tickets are available for all dates, and cost $99 and up.

January 18, 2010 at 6:07 PM | by globetrotting gourmet | 0 Comments

Whether you’re flying solo, have the significant other in tow or simply feel sexy, you may want to check out Champagne & Lingerie hosted by The Girls of X-Burlesque at Bugsy Cabaret at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino.

On Sunday, February 14th starting at 10pm., ladies wearing lingerie will enjoy Perrier Jouet champagne as the DJ spins all sorts of sexy tunes into the early morning hours. Tickets are $50.

The 'X Show' was created in 2002 and has since developed a worldwide following, globetrotting scantily clad goodies to Santiago, Chile and Bogotá and Cali, Columbia in the last year alone. The sexy revue stars gorgeous young gals from around the world who are touted for much more than their beauty. Oh no. These babes have resume builders like bachelor's degree in Psychology, Olympic representation in gymnastics, stints in the Moscow Ballet and Riverdance and even requests for Playboy appearances.

Hmm...Donny Osmond, Veteran Performer and Dancer, Wins 'Dancing with The Stars'

November 25, 2009 at 12:07 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Donny working the crowd at The Flamingo.

Don't get us wrong. We looove Donny Osmond. He is one sexy grandfather and we're thinking about converting to Mormonism if it means looking as good as he does when we are 75 52.

But having just won "Dancing with The Stars" Season 9 last night, we can't help but wonder if that's a fair pick for a winner. After all, this is DONNY OSMOND. He's been performing--dancing and singing--since he was in diapers. He's STILL performing today at The Flamingo with his sister, Marie.

Don't you think he has far too much of an advantage here? Oh well, guess the producers of DWTS should have considered this before they put him on the show.

Now, we are just curious how dates for the Donny and Marie show will be affected when Donny goes on the DWTS tour. The duo renewed their contract at The Flamingo through October 2010. We assume it's show business as usual but we at least expect one DWTS-dedicated number during his show now.

Tickets start at $90 for balcony seats and range up to $255 for a VIP experience which includes front-of-stage seating and an after-show photo with the stars.

Amen! Just $10 Extra Will Get You a Late Check-Out at The Flamingo

October 28, 2009 at 12:51 PM | by juliana | 2 Comments

Last week we told you that the late check-out at Trump Las Vegas (plus a spa credit) would be the only incentives to get us to return to the so-so hotel. But with this new late check-out offer from The Flamingo--which is actually on the Strip and has a casino too--we're not so sure the Trump stands a chance.

The Late Check-Out Deal lets guests stay until 3pm the day of their departure for just $10 more. The promotion is even good for the holiest of all departure days in town, Sundays. Can we get an Amen? Hallelujah!

However, the deal does expire on December 28th and only a limited number of rooms are available for a late check-out. So you better book fast. Use code PKGFLCO to do so. Oh and one more thing, if you still can't make it out of bed by 3pm on your departure date, the Flamingo will charge you a full night. And we'd probably recommend some time in rehab too.

Going to CES? Book Soon if you Want to Snag a ‘Deal’

October 27, 2009 at 12:27 PM | by MsRebecca | 0 Comments

With all the holidays creeping up on us, not to mention the trips and hotel bookings that come with them, we almost forgot about what comes hot on the heels of New Year’s: the Consumer Electronics Show. The 2010 Tradeshow of Geekdom takes place January 7–10, but if you want to avoid paying exorbitant rates for a room you will barely see, you should get your good self over to the CES Hotel Reservations site, where you can take advantage of “special” rates for registered CES attendees.

We say “special” because, while they are cheaper than what you can expect to pay if you leave your booking until December, they’re still considerably more than what you’d pay on a regular night in Vegas. The price we pay to be an in-the-know geek!

The CES rates range from $30 a night at the Sahara on the Wednesday and Sunday (ie: the lowest-attended days of the show) to $279 a night at the Bellagio on the busiest days, Thursday and Friday. All the big guys—such as Wynn, TI, Mandalay Bay and MGM—are in the $200-$250 a night range and many look like they’ve been reduced since we first started checking this page.

What's Inside the Flamingo's GO Suites?

October 19, 2009 at 2:42 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

The Neapolitan GO Suite

You already know that we're big fans of the Flamingo's GO Rooms--poppy, peppy, high-tech rooms that make staying at the legendary Flamingo hotel enjoyable again. (As does the coconut scent that wafts through the lobby.) But we've learned there's an even grander way to enjoy the GO rooms--by booking a GO Suite.

There are three types of GO suites--GO Metropolitan, GO Neapolitan and GO Cosmopolitan. The GO Metropolitan suites average 1,500-sq.ft. (bigger than our apartment) and are located on the 27th and 28th floors with killer views of the Strip. The two-bedroom, two-bath suites also feature four 42" HDTVs and three entertainment centers. The decor is actually different here with dark wood furniture and splashes of orange instead of white and pink.

Then there are 14 GO Cosmopolitan suites which are 800-sq.ft one-bedroom suites that feature living areas and bar areas. Lastly, there are 38 GO Neapolitan suites which are 650-sq.ft. and are just essentially just a little bit bigger than the GO rooms.

All suites however feature the same techy amenities we love in the GO rooms such as Denon® sound system with an MP3 player docking station, CD/DVD player, remote control blinds, LED reading lights, wireless internet, and high-definition televisions. And our fave, TVs in the bathroom mirror.

Come on Baby, Drive The Flamingo's Cars

Where: 3555 Las Vegas Boulevard South [map], 89109
October 12, 2009 at 11:58 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

The Flamingo has finally got something "exotic" on its property to brag about, aside from its pink flamingos. The hotel casino just launched The Supreme Vegas Exotic Car Experience in conjunction with Daydreamin' Exotics.

For a limited time, you can pop over to The Flamingo and check out the sexy rides on display. And you can even ride in one. The way it works is like this:

Patrons join a Tour Host (in a pace car), and take off in a “euro-caravan” of cars, up the Strip and out to Red Rock, for three hours of exotic car nirvana.

You also stop ever 20-30 minutes to swap cars so that everyone gets a chance to drive all five. The cars in this exotic fleet include the Porsche 911 Turbo X-50 Cabriolet, Nissan Skyline GTR, Ferrari 360 Modena Coupe, Dodge Viper SRT-10 GTS Coupe and Aston Martin Vantage. Gearheads can peruse all the car specs here.

The cost is $649 for two people and the service is open from 10am to 10pm.

Take a Walk on the Wild Side – at the Flamingo’s Wildlife Habitat

Where: 3555 Las Vegas Boulevard South [map], 89109
September 2, 2009 at 3:46 PM | by Erika Pope | 0 Comments

Granted, in our humble opinion, the Wildlife Habitat next to the Flamingo’s pool complex used to be even cooler. That’s because it used to have penguins. Yes, that’s right, penguins who lived in the open air in the desert. During feeding times, they’d run around in circles flapping their wings or, alternatively, snuggle up to the caretaker bearing the bucket of fish. They were charmers, that’s for sure.

But alas, the penguins moved along a couple of years ago. We hope it was to more appropriate climes.

August 28, 2009 at 5:44 PM | by VegasChatter | 0 Comments

We're sure many of you plan out your Vegas trips way in advance but we've always gotta leave room for the folks who decide on a whim to head out to Sin City in search of luck, love, money and good times. Every so often, we'll check in on last minute rates at hotels in town and see how much they are going for--whether you phone in a rezzie, book it online through the hotel or hit up another travel booking site.

Today, we're scoping out The Flamingo, home to Donny and Marie Osmond who may or may not be performing with the rest of their fam in Vegas this weekend.

Don't Expect Donny and Marie To Perform With The Osmonds This Weekend

Where: 4500 West Tropicana Avenue [map], 89103
August 28, 2009 at 12:13 PM | by Erika Pope | 0 Comments

We couldn’t help but guffaw when we read the promo blurb on VisitLasVegas.com for The Osmonds, who are performing at The Orleans this weekend (August 28-30). After waxing poetical-like about the “legendary” Osmond family who shot to fame in the early 70s with “dynamic youngest brother Donny as a focal point,” it closes with this piece of advice:

Check lineup of entertainers before purchasing tickets, please.

You see, the dynamo of a little bro apparently isn’t part of said lineup, chiefly because he and his wholesome sister Marie are performing that night in their own show at the Flamingo.

A Sign of The Times? Harrah's Proposes a Middlebrow Entertainment District

July 13, 2009 at 2:33 PM | by Erika Pope | 0 Comments

A big story in yesterday’s Las Vegas Sun revealed Harrah’s Entertainment’s new plans for an entertainment district to run perpendicular to the Strip between O’Shea’s Casino and the Flamingo.

From the sounds of it, the realization of the plan, which would be about a block in length and include 20 or so casual bars and restaurants open to the street, is a ways off. Harrah’s still needs to nail down financing for any new development and, as is well known, banks aren’t exactly handing out the cold, hard cash all that willingly these days.

Play a Few Sets on the Courts at the Flamingo

Where: 3555 Las Vegas Blvd S. [map], 89109
June 15, 2009 at 3:27 PM | by globetrotting gourmet | 0 Comments

Andre Agassi is Las Vegas' biggest tie to the wide world of tennis (he's a hometown boy) but not many visitors come to Las Vegas to volley back and forth, do they? Not with all this other excitement going on like the debaucherous daytime pool parties and more extreme sports like indoor sky-diving.

Yet beyond the bright pink façade and lush green gardens of Flamingo Las Vegas, there’s a tennis culture that still captures a bit of old school Vegas. It doesn’t quite take you back to its storied beginnings as Benjamin 'Bugsy' Siegel's dream for a true high roller resort, but there’s a certain style of classy service, and personalized attention that remains.
