Introducing Circus Circus West Tower, Or The Nicest Surprise We've Had In Vegas
UPDATE: On 1 July Circus Circus increased its resort fee to $6. FYI.
We’ve stayed in some bad rooms in Vegas (cough Caesars - both times), but never – never! – have we dreaded a hotel stay as much as we were dreading our trip to Circus Circus last Thursday night. If Harrah’s is the most depressing casino on Las Vegas Boulevard, then CC is defo the skankiest – and we speak as people with low standards who spent three happy days at the Stratosphere not so long ago. It was with a heavy heart that we left our $1 room at Sahara to check in here, and that’s saying a lot.
Check in:
Drunk people in the carpark, yay! A lobby that smelt of foot cheese, whoop! And crowds of checked out groups blocking our way to the check in desk, super duper! We were not in the nicest of moods when we finally got to check in, but the lady on the desk was so nice, and so complimentary of our smooth English accent, that the ego massage calmed us right down. And we got even calmer when we realized that, either on account of our accent or our charming manner, she had given us a key to the new West Tower rooms, rather than the Skyrise Tower, which we’d booked (the upgrade normally costs $20). Result! We were still scared though.

Is Everything Sexier in Paris? It Depends On Which Room You Choose
As you’ll know by now, we spent last weekend in Paris. You’ll know we liked shaking our glowsticks at the Manilow, and were disappointed by the non-sexy sex kits. But here’s the important bit - the room review. Especially because you can get 15 percent off rooms here by booking through our special code (see below).
Check in:
Impressive. Despite our arriving at 6pm on a Friday night, and the valet looking rammed, it only took a few minutes to dump the car. Likewise, check in – the queue moved quickly and we were through in a matter of minutes. We lucked out with the host lady too – she was lovely too.

Possessed Babies But A (Nearly) Spotless Room: Our Night Of Courage at Excalibur
The idea of Excalibur’s $27 room rates got us (and our *hint hint* Facebook fans) so intrigued that we had to go check it out.
What we were expecting: the pits. “I stayed there many years ago – once was good enough for me” was the line of the Facebook comments. And a friend of ours stayed there in September and vowed never to go back. No shower caps, bad air con, smelly rooms and no hot water is what we were told. So we packed our thickest pyjamas and a noseclip and headed down.

The Rio's Masquerade Tower Is A Very Pleasant Surprise
Remember how a couple of weeks back we told you about the $50 room rates the Rio had going at the moment? Well, one reader commented that it was a good offer, but it’s still the Rio.
Which got us thinking, would the Rio really be as bad as we thought, or would staying there actually be a nice surprise? Our curiosity (and our desire to spend a weekend night in town for $50) got the better of us, so we booked last Friday night.

Our Residency At Caesars Palace Was Not A Resounding Success
Just like Matt Goss, it’s always been our dream to take up residency at Caesars Palace. Unfortunately for us, unlike Matt Goss, our musical prowess means that our residency will have to be purchased. So when we saw a hotel that we were pretty sure was Caesars going for $72 on Hotwire, we knew our time had come.

Inside The PH Towers By Westgate...Er, Or is it The PH Tower?
Guess The Hotel revealed!!!
We braved the Super Bowl madness over the weekend and checked into the new PH Towers By Westgate, adjacent to the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
Overall, we were happy with what we got for our money, especially since we read some awful reviews on TravelPost before we got there. And being a timeshare resort we were scared that we would be kidnapped by timeshare salesmen and forced to listen to a timeshare pitch in a windowless room below the casino. (Thankfully, that never happened.)
However, the biggest drawback for this hotel is that it's really attached to the Miracle Mile shops rather than Planet Hollywood. Which means, you have to walk through the mall to get to the PH casino. And then you have to walk back through the mall to get to your room. Do it five times on Super Bowl Sunday and it gets old real quick.
Check-In: We rolled up on Saturday afternoon at 2pm to the PH Towers entrance where valet (it's free!) helped us carry our bags out of the car. NOTE: If you're arriving by taxi, specify that you are going to PH Towers, not Planet Hollywood. Otherwise, you will be dropped off at the Planet Hollywood entrance and will be forced to schelp through the mall to PH Towers.
The check-in line was no less than five minutes and we were on our way to the 37th floor.

Inside The Vdara Hotel's Deluxe Suite
Here it is, what you've been waiting for: Vdara Hotel and Spa porn.
Yesterday we detailed the step-by-step process of checking into Vdara and now we follow it up with our video tour and some more in-room shots. The room we are in is the starting room category, a Deluxe Suite. The square footage is 582-sq. ft. with large windows taking up the entire side of the room. Too bad our view is of the back of the Bellagio.
When you walk in, you are essentially in the kitchenette which has a small dining table with two chairs, a microwave, stovetop and a mini-refrigerator that has minibar goods on one side and free space to store your own minibar goods on the other.
Beyond the kitchenette is a small seating area with a comfy sofa that pulls out to a queen-sized bed and an interesting media center. This dark wood column is planted in the middle of the room and has a giant flat-screen TV on both sides--one for folks laying in bed, one for folks sitting on the couch. Extending from the column is a desk with a sweet media hub to plug in all your gadgets.
The bathrooms are long and narrow but still fit a vast vanity sink, a good-sized shower and a large soaking tub with a handheld nozzle. The bath products are, much to our disappointment, Aveda which always leaves our hair and skin very dry.

Inside a Luxury Suite at The Palazzo Las Vegas

One of the reasons we like the rooms at The Venetian and The Palazzo is simply the space. These suites are huge, a total of 725-sq. ft. with a separate seating area and a large bathroom that features both a shower and a bathtub. Seriously, don't stay here alone. All the extra space will make you sad.
The rooms also feature some sweet amenities like remote-controlled Roman shades and three flat-screen TVs, one of which is in the bathroom.
The room decor, however, is a little odd. It's like something of a cross between Italianate and reluctantly modern, with a pinch of retro throw in. It's just strange. And mostly dark, which is a contrast to the light, airy and happy main lobby. Then again, dark colors hide stains rather well.

Inside Hotel32's New Must-Book Rooms at The Monte Carlo
Yesterday, we gave you a quick rundown on what to expect inside Hotel32 atop the Monte Carlo and today we're giving you some room porn to admire as well as a video of the Studio rooms (see above.)
Whatever your thoughts are about the Monte Carlo (so-so casino, lack of cool restaurants or nightclub), staying at Hotel32 is an entirely different experience than staying in rooms on the 31st floor and under. A dedicated suite assistant, bypassing the long lines at check-in, pre-stocked minibars and access to the Hotel32 lounge with its drinks, food and views of CityCenter are just some of the perks you receive while staying here. And speaking of housekeeping cart kleptomaniacs, Hotel32 features Kiehl's bath products. Aaaaaahhh.
However, all rooms are not created equal here. Heck, all rooms don't even look alike.

Almost Paradise: Inside the Hard Rock's Paradise Tower
We recently spent a night at the new Paradise Tower at the Hard Rock Hotel and despite being in love with the newness of the rooms, the rest of the Hard Rock experience is still lacking--unless you're just there to get absolutely wrecked at Rehab, the raunchy Sunday pool party. Then you'll find yourself surrounded by plenty of people with the same plan.
We wrote about the stay over on HotelChatter and we'll recap some of the highlights for you here.

Inside a One-Bedroom Suite at Trump Las Vegas
In continuing our Las Vegas hotel room education, we'd like to show you this video which was shot last August at the Trump Las Vegas. The Trump is located next to Fashion Show Mall so it's not squarely on the Strip but it's not that far from it either.
The rooms are priced very reasonable for all that you get--one bedroom suites with full kitchens. The spa and the pool area are blissfully serene and most important, quiet. If you hate the Vegas pool party scene, you will find peace at The Trump pool.
But after our stay there last year, the bad far outweighed the good.

Inside a Panoramic Suite at Encore Las Vegas

When Encore Las Vegas opened last December, HotelChatter was eager to get inside and see what the follow-up to Wynn Las Vegas was like. And it did not disappoint.
Overall, the room, with its separate living area, has an upgraded Venetian feel even though it did seem a bit smaller than the 700 square feet advertised. The black, white and cream color scheme is very classy as is the room in general.
Perk: You can control the lighting, the sheers, and the drapes from your bed thanks to this nifty bedside contraption that feels very seventies. Its best feature: The swivel HDTV--niiiice.
