We didn't always play a lot of video poker. But, when we did start playing, we looked for ways to improve our play.
The first thing we did was to learn what makes a good video poker game. When we learned that there are specific pay tables that will pay us better, we wondered how we could find those games. We then found vpFREE.com which has details of where to find the best video poker games in just about every casino in America.
Now that we knew where to find the best games, we wanted to learn how to play video poker better. There are various websites where we can play the game, but sitting at a computer to play a game is a little confining. Then we found the WinPoker App and our lives changed.
WinPoker is an app for the iPhone. It's a great tool to practice video poker strategy. It tells you when you make a move that's not strategically correct. Much like a child touching a hot stove and learning not to do that, WinPoker is kind of the same. After making the same mistakes over and over we're learning how to play video poker better.
WinPoker allows you to choose the type of video poker game you want to play with the pay tables you want to play so you can have an accurate simulation and learn to play the right way.
If the pay tables aren’t stock on the game, you can add them. For example, because most casinos on the Vegas Strip have poor pay tables, we'll add and practice a specific game at a specific casino to hone our skill in that game since every pay table has different strategy. Specifically, we'll practice 7/5 Bonus Poker if we're going to Caesars Palace, because that's their best game.

Back in April we had just downloaded a fresh new QR reader but missed out on our shot at scoring with a cute QR code. We still haven't snagged one off a moving vehicle but now that easier targets have been popping up all over Vegas we can say we've bagged a few QRs. Our most recent chance to get knee deep in QR came at the Hard Rock and is the reason we didn't Pago 'till latero.
If you're still scratching your head asking wtf a QR code is, read this primer. We'll wait. Ready? Let's find out how to use that brand spanking new QR reader you just downloaded.

Have you been on a heater at the tables or lighting up the bonus reels when hunger pains hit? Or the throat goes dry waiting for the cocktail waitress to circle back 'round to quench that thirst. But yet this table's hot, you can't leave - that's just throwing money away! Maybe the desert sun is beating down on you poolside, you need a burger (veggie that teeny weeny bikini reminds you) but your cash is drying out in the room. Now there's an app for that, at least at the Hard Rock.
On a recent trip to the 'Rock we spotted signs for Pago, an app that allows you to order and pay for goods and services throughout the casino. We
assumed it was lame took note to dive into it later and now that we did, it might be worth checking out. Especially if you spend a lot of time at HRH, the only Vegas spot to offer the service so far.

One day, we got to discussing Station Casinos online sports betting website, Sports Connection, since there are times we'd much rather send our wagers in online from home than hop in the car and drive to the book. Unfortunately, we're Apple people and frustrated that we can't use Sports Connection to bet from our couch on lazy days. This particular conversation took us to mobile gaming. We were sharing our excitement that Leroy's would have an iPhone sports wagering app soon.
Our new friend mentioned to us that Station was working on their own sports betting apps and that they would be available by the end of the year. We were stoked, but this conversation was more off the cuff than official word from Station Casinos. Last week, after the Leroy's iPhone app was released we heard from another person that the Station Casinos apps were in the works, but with no ETA mentioned.

The day has finally come for iPhone users…
The Leroy's sports betting app has been approved by Apple and the Nevada Gaming Control Board and is available for use. Leroy's now has an app for every major smartphone and has simply cornered the market. The Leroy's app was released on Friday and we decided to take it for a spin right away. Well, almost right away. We waited for NFL games after running into some problems navigating the app. We never claimed to be the smartest gambler, but we try.
We had one of two types of bets we wanted to make with our first NFL wagers - a straight single team wager on the New York Giants -3 or a Teaser with a handful of teams. We decided to go for the big bucks and go with a teaser. Actually, since this was our first time betting with Leroy's we only made a $10 wager that would return us $40.
The process of placing a wager was simple. Click the type of bet, make the picks, choose the amount you want to wager and confirm the bet.

Back in August, Caesars Entertainment introduced us to their Total Vegas concept by way of an all encompassing website of everything Caesars in Las Vegas. It's a fairly nifty website if you are a loyal Caesars customer and don't like to stray too far. Caesars took that Total Vegas concept and decided to stick it in your pocket with the Total Vegas app for your iPhone. We're told an Android version will be available in two weeks. Those with Total Rewards comps can use the website and app in planning a partially "free" vacation.
The Total Vegas app is one of the better Las Vegas apps we've found, it's unfortunate that it's only for Caesars properties because we'd like something like this for all of Vegas. Like the website we can get information on any restaurants, shows, activities and rooms located on a Caesars property. We can also access our Total Rewards account and book rooms on the app, which we love. Another cool thing is that you can access Caesars awesome Pulse of Vegas blog via the app. On a side note, if you're looking for an app that covers all of Vegas, you can check out Vegas Mate which is an independently created app that covers the entire city.
We're nitpicky and we would like to have a few more words describing the restaurants, shows, activities and rooms but the app is free so we can't expect everything to be perfect. Our app also runs a bit clunky and slow. We'd prefer it to just zip along and not stutter when we click on a command. We have friends who are not having the same problem as we are so we'll chalk it up to our phone having too many apps (if there is such a thing).
