Cash Cab Shouts Out To Vegas Tonight
Surprisingly neither the ugliest nor meanest-looking cabbie we've seen.
Cash Cab: It’s the game show that takes place right here in this cab. We’ve been watching the New York City edition for a few years now but tonight we get to see host Ben Bailey pick up passengers in Vegas. The comedian had a gig at The Orleans back in May and took his cab to the Strip.
In general, the game show takes unknowing passengers looking to get to dinner, a show, in this case maybe a strip club, and offers them money in exchange for correctly answering trivia questions. If they get to their destination before incorrectly answering three of Ben’s quizzes, they win cash. And then get tempted to go double or nothing. Since these eps were in Vegas, we certainly hope to see a lot of gamers going for the double up.

Lance Burton to Disappear from Monte Carlo on September 4
There was speculation last year at this time that magician Lance Burton was out at Monte Carlo but he magically pulled a six-year contract out of his hat.
But today it was announced that Burton will be out as of September 4. And it appears to be have been a not-so-nice parting. We wonder if he will even make it until September? Are you lining up to buy your last Lance tickets or not? Let us know in comments below.

It's Not Been a Good Week For Magic In Vegas
Lots of news in the struggling freaky world of Vegas this week. Whether it’s good or bad depends on whether you like the acts in the first place.
Dirk Arthur has announced he’s closing his Xtreme Magic show on March 12 (to which we say boo to losing the cheese, but hooray for the poor tigers).
Everyone’s least favorite magician Criss Angel is revamping his beleaguered show, and looks to be cutting out most of the Cirque dancers and upping the magic factor (only problem--as far as we know--is that Criss Angel really can't do magic.)

Lance Burton Knows How To Stop You Taking Photos
Well, here’s one way of stopping those pests who like nothing better than to spend an entire concert/show/speech taking photos (unless, of course, those pests are us, taking entirely necessary snaps for this website. Ahem).
We noticed this strict little sign at the Lance Burton Theater at the Monte Carlo last night. It says that not only are cameras etc prohibited during the performance (like anyone takes any notice of those signs) but that if you do do as everyone else does and break the rules, your equipment will be seized and your film destroyed.

Amazing Johnathan Wins Award Then Spoils It By Defending Criss Angel
Vegas people are on an award-winning roll at the moment. If it’s not Donny Osmond winning Dancing with the Stars, it’s The Amazing Johnathan snaffling the prize for best comedy magic at the 2009 World Magic Awards last Wednesday.
Well done AJ! Unfortunately, he’s spoiled it all by writing on his website that Criss Angel’s Believe is “awesome”, “beautiful”, that “Criss is great in it” and that “if you don’t think it’s one of the greatest magic shows ever produced you are nuts.” Hmm.
In all of our interests, we’re not going to help you with booking Believe, but if you want to see The Amazing Johnathan, he’s on at the Harmon Theatre in the Miracle Mile, Tuesday to Saturday at 9pm, and tickets start at $59.95 plus tax.
In other magic news, Lance Burton will be off for a holiday December 13-25, reopening on Boxing Day. And Anthony Cools gets our own “comedy magic” award with his tweet the other day: “Fun show tonight, Glenda enjoyed her orgasm.” Incorrigible.

Lance Burton to Stick Around for Six More Years

Earlier this month, we speculated that magician Lance Burton might be calling it quits after a foot injury that coincided with the last few weeks of his 13-year contract at the Monte Carlo. But Burton just finished a press conference at the hotel, telling the world that he's going to do keep on doing magic in Sin City for another six years. And yes, he will stay at the Monte Carlo.
As for when he shows will start up again, that could happen as early as next week.
The 49-year-old illusionist says he plans to return to the stage next week after breaking his right foot during a show in May. Burton says he is still wearing a large boot but hopes he can switch to a tennis shoe soon.
And there you have it. Lance Burton, still doing magic in Sin City. Not sure this warranted a press conference but hey, the man's gotta sell some magic tickets.
UPDATE: Lance Burton will return to Monte Carlo on July 7 with shows starting at 7pm Tuesday-Saturday. Tickets can be purchased on Lance Burton’s new web site at www.lanceburton.com or through Monte Carlo at wwww.montecarlo.com or by calling (702) 730-7160. Tickets start at $72.50.

Is Lance Burton Headed for Retirement?

Several weeks back, we reported that Lance Burton’s show at the Monte Carlo was on hiatus while he recovered from a foot injury and subsequent surgery last month.
However now, if you go the entertainment page on the Mirage’s Web site, you’ll see posted there that Burton’s show has been "cancelled until further notice." Further inquiries are being directed to two phone numbers: 877-386-8224 or 702-531-3825.
