Freaky Friday: The Musical Fusion Edition
Fridays may not have been as Freaky as of late, but give magic props to Vegas performers for playing catchup. Today's Freaky Friday unwraps lots of new tricks around Las Vegas where the common theme is magic... and other "stuff".

Tommy Wind at the Clarion
One of Vegas' youngest headliner at 21, Tommy Wind has created Impact -- an explosion of magic and music -- along with martial arts and dancing that presumably didn't fit in the banner. He is one of the youngest magicians to have earned the title of Master Illusionist. At the show, he'll play some guitar, float a guitar, bang the drums, and make those drums disappear.
Tommy once made one JetBlue flight attendant's flight at 36,000 feet so magical, she still has the pictures. He promises to bring his biggest, most original illusions (and music?) to the ground in Vegas.

Get Your Mardi Gras On In Vegas

If those college buddies haven't yet committed to trekking to Mardi Gras this year, the New Orleans trip probably isn't happening. That doesn't mean it's time to resign to Google Imaging for body paint and bead pics with one hand while sucking Doritos off the other. Which reminds us we did not miss those commercials this year.
Spending Mardi Gras in Las Vegas is more than catching Rio's Show in the Sky, streaking through The Orleans, throwing back jello shots at any of six Vegas Fat Tuesday locations, or heading downtown to Mermaids and La Bayou to start your Mr. T bead collection. That's just the first few hours of the trip, kids.

Las Vegas has more in store, letting us get more than our fill of Mardi Gras -- and rich, fatty foods -- around February 21 this year:

To Valet or Not To Valet... That is the Question

We're flexible and open to different experiences which we find every day in Vegas. Sometimes, the more mundane activities in our lives make us wonder what other people do and if they consciously act like we do. When we park sometimes we'll drop at the valet (which is always free plus any tips we leave) and sometimes we'll park ourselves. Really, it's about convenience for us. If it's easier for us to self park and get to our location, we will. If it's easier to get to our destination by valet, we'll do that.
We'll always use valet at Planet Hollywood, because their parking area leaves us in the back of the Miracle Mile Shops and about a 10-15 minute walk to the casino which is much less convenient than the valet which puts us a quick escalator ride into the center of the casino.

The Most Entertaining Act At V Theater Is...
The V Theater is tucked in the Miracle Mile Shops tucked behind, next, and around Planet Hollywood. Not to be confused with the Saxe Theater which also calls Miracle Mile home and produces Vegas The Show and a Beatles tribute. No, V puts on acts like V the Ultimate Variety Show, patriotic Chippendales American Storm, Stripper 101, and more recently a Magical Circus with Santa at the helm.
The best entertainment coming from the V crowd may just be the FAQs on the theater website, however:

Santa in Vegas: Comedy, Magic, Mojitos, and Junk Food
What do Santa outfits, magic, cookies, booze, and kids have in common? If you said a special holiday edition of To Catch a Predator, you'd be wrong. Those festive ingredients are all backdrops for two separate chances the kids can legally get with Santa.
The first holly, jolly event is a show called Santa's Magical Circus at the V Theater inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. The show is described as combining comedy, magic, variety acts, dancers, and a whole lot of holiday cheer. In addition to featuring a showgirl, tuxedo-ed sunglass wearing dog, and an excited Santa handling white pixie-dust, the show's website promises to have you and your kids rolling in the aisles with laughter.

Vegas Has A Pro Soccer Team? That, And More
Outside of putting money on the line, Las Vegas isn't generally thought of as a sports town, especially when stacked up against the likes of Boston, New York, Chicago, and L.A.. But pro sports teams do exist here and we even find out about a new one ourselves from time to time.
The Las Vegas Knights is one of 51 minor league pro arena soccer teams in the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL-Premier). While the team may be pro, their website doesn't quite complete the 'fessional with tons of info at the moment outside of identifying them as the 2010/2011 league champs. Hey, Vegas kicks balls. Trolling their Facebook page, they've just recently had a couple open tryouts so we'd expect another season to be around the corner at some point. Their home field is at the Las Vegas Sports Park if you'd like to get your kicks and stalk their pre-season. If you'd prefer to wait for the real deal, here's what's going on in other Vegas sports news:

Our Favorite Place to Watch Football, Outside of a Sportsbook

We love going to the sportsbook to watch the games, but specifically we find it best to watch regular season baseball and basketball there. Those games don't have much emotion because the seasons are so long so we can just hang out and relax. However, when it comes to football things tend to get a little rowdy because the crowds are bigger and there's much more betting. The games have a little to do with that, but the action is raised to a fever pitch with every game - especially when the more popular teams are playing like the Green Bay Packers. Oftentimes, we'll shun the sportsbook for NFL Sunday, though, and head over to a bar and watch the games while enjoying food and drinks.
In the past, we would usually have one or two trips to Vegas during football season and we always made it a point to spend our Sundays at one of our favorite sports bar on The Strip, Blondies at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.

How To Get Free Drinks For Being Social

If this is the start to a new Vegas trend, we think we're in heaven.. and we'll most definitely be at the bar. Two Vegas bars, specifically. PBR Rock Bar at Planet Hollywood's Miracle Mile which started offering free booze to its Twitter followers every Thursday back in April and, now, McFadden's at Rio is on the verge of launching its Social Social Event.

Two Cool Things We Discovered at Planet Hollywood While Getting Hot Joe

A couple weeks ago, we mentioned The Beat as one of our new favorite coffee shops and a good excuse for us to head downtown. We can listen to cool music, grab a good cup of coffee and use their WiFi. We dig all of that.
One morning at Planet Hollywood, in desperate need of coffee, we found something old had returned to Starbucks along with something new. Returning was a quick skip line for Diamond Total Rewards card holders. The lines are about 20-30 minutes long in the early morning making this is one of our favorite perks of being a Diamond card holder.

Lobster ME To Roll Into Miracle Mile This Summer

They took our heart at Palazzo, but will they be able to do it again at Planet Hollywood?
The palates behind I ♥ Burgers are bringing a new food concept to The Strip this summer - Lobster ME. That's ME as in Maine, but we're not sure whether it's pronounced "Lobster M-E" or "Lobster ME." Nonetheless, we're going to try to be one of the first to walk up to the counter and quip "lobster me" before the staff moves from delighted giggles to 'this again?' eye rolls.

The Victoria's Secret store inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood is closing its doors so it can be more eye-popping than ever.
