Beyonce To Make Nearly a Million Bucks a Show at Wynn?

December 8, 2009 at 12:59 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

According to sexiest male gossip columnist alive, Norm Clarke, word on the Strip is that Wynn Las Vegas is courting superstar Beyonce to do a longterm show. While we already find it shocking that Beyonce would consider setting up semi-permanent shop in Vegas, what's completely wild is the figure being thrown around for Beyonce's paycheck: $750,000 per show..

Now, this wouldn't be a six nights a week, double performances on Fridays and Saturdays kind of gig. It's probably something similar to Garth Brooks deal which is strictly weekend shows for month-long stretches. And we surmise that Queen B will fill in when Garth needs some time off.

Still, $750,000 a show? With a hefty paycheck like that, ticket prices are sure to be high and never discounted.

Vdara Breaks Out The Bubbly (and Orlando Bloom) for Opening Night

Where: 2600 W. Harmon Avenue [map], 89109
December 2, 2009 at 3:46 AM | by juliana | 2 Comments

Yes, the newest hotel in Vegas is the Vdara Hotel and Spa and we were fortunate enough to spend opening night at the hotel AND to attend a special, private-ish Vanity Fair party to commemorate the very first opening of the massive CityCenter complex.

We say private-ish because although there was a tightly enforced guest list, anyone who had booked a room at the hotel last night could also attend. Which would explain why there were some folks decked to the nines in cocktail chic attire (Vegas locals and media) and others who roamed around a little bewildered in jeans, t-shirts and boots (hotel guests.)

Needless to say the Vegas glitterati was in full force, even if the party vibe was classy and low-key. For the women that meant hair (lots of it), boobs (lots of them), crazy patterned black tights and short mini-dresses. For the men that meant suits or nice slacks and a button down. Thankfully, there was no Ed Hardy in sight. A success!

Of course, the high-up execs from MGM Mirage were there including CEO Jim Murren (who we saw getting pumped for info by the dapper gossip pirate, Norm Clarke) as well as a few real deal celebs like Rosario Dawson, photographer Sebastian Copeland and our husband Orlando Bloom.

The New Fusion Bar is Open at The Palazzo

November 16, 2009 at 8:17 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

One thing we can never get enough here in Vegas? New places to drink and The Palazzo has opened yet another watering hole in their vast Palazzo/Venetian resort casino.

The Fusion Bar specializes in Latin-inspired drinks from Brazil, Peru and Mexico, with a heavy emphasis on muddling--a technique of mixing fresh fruit with a stainless steel rod to create an all-natural concotion. Some of the specialty cocktails include the Peruvian-fused Pisco Tango with mango puree; the Brazilian-infused Pineapple Batida with Agua Luca Cachaca and the Mexican-fused Paloma with pink grapefruit, tequila and 7 Up.

The bar, which is located on the casino floor, also has gaming machines of blackjack, keno, poker and slots. Because God forbid you just came to Vegas to drink. Happy Hour is daily from 5 to 7pm and again from 10pm to midnight but Fusion is open 24 hours a day.

Here's what else is on in Vegas:

· For some reason, Norm's celeb sightings bore us. [LVRJ]
· Frank Caliendo will be in Vegas for TEN YEARS. Just think about that. [Daily Fiasco]
· El Cortez has a reasonably-priced New Year's Eve party going on [@ElCortezLV]
· The M Resort is getting a big-ass Xmas tree. They will need it so we can see it from the Strip. [@VegasBill]
