As the year began, the Playboy Comedy Club closed at Palms and reopened at Paris as the Empire Comedy Club. Playboy Comedy Club was known for having regular appearances from some of the best young, up and coming national touring comedians. That attitude was brought to Paris with the Empire Comedy Club. Already this year, Empire Comedy Club has brought a lot of comedians that you've probably seen in movies or TV shows. A lot of "oh yeah, that dude looks familiar" type of comedians.
Last night, we headed to the Empire Comedy Club at Paris to see TJ Miller. First thing you'll want to know is that Empire Comedy Club is not an actual comedy club. The Empire Comedy Club takes place at Napoleon's Dueling Piano Bar. The casino staff didn't seem to know this. Also, if you buy tickets in advance, you'll have to pick them up at will call which is next to check in and the valet entrance.
Empire Comedy Club doesn't move the dueling pianos from the stage, so that gives the comedians a nice prop. Last night, it gave TJ Miller a place to set down his beer and make a couple quick jokes. Napoleon's brings in a few hundred chairs from the convention center and a few tables for the VIP's. While not the most comfortable setup, it's perfectly fine since comedy shows are usually only about an hour long.

To be honest, this makes us feel old. Please forgive our "get off my lawn" moment while we reflect on recent dining experiences on the Vegas Strip. This isn't meant as a rant, but more of a heads up and warning to prepare you for future trips.
Eating on The Strip is damn expensive!
In the past couple of weeks, we've eaten $20 burgers at both Public House and Central. We've paid $20 for fried rice at China Poblano and we've seen nachos at Carlos'n Charlie's between $15 and $20. Nachos! Seriously?!

Kim will ring in the New Year at TAO inside Venetian, but we'll have to see if it's plus one estranged husband or not ($50 women, $100 men). Lil' bro and Dancing with the Star Rob will toast midnight at Tryst inside Wynn ($50 women, $125 men). Meantime, Kourtney will hold court at Chateau in Paris with baby's daddy Scott Disick. We know, that still leaves Khloe and... dear lord, no... Kris... but please, isn't three enough?

Last weekend, we were peeking at Twitter and noticed a conversation take a turn we see and hear often, "so-and-so valet is the worst, it always takes an hour to get our car." It happens often and that's a good thing for the Strip properties. This means that the casinos are busy. Of course, this is annoying to us. It's annoying because we know that even after all that waiting, we're going to move at a snail's pace down The Strip especially on the weekend. Cabs are no better than having our own car. Cab lines are long and traffic stinks for cabs, too.
Valet is almost always a snap, though, if you have a premium players card at one of the properties. Our Diamond Total Rewards card is most useful at the valet as we can always get in and out of a property quickly. Unlike cab lines, we don't have to be jerks and wait in another line, the valet tags are just another color. In fact, if we're going to The Cosmopolitan we'll sometimes valet at Planet Hollywood and just walk across the street.

One million. That's how many folks have bellied up to the Buffet of Buffets. Over last weekend, this guy became #1,000,000 and won a buffet o' prizes that he'll be able to enjoy as soon as he can move again.
If you've ever wondered if you should pass up the pass or go for it, this week's VegasChatter Flashback takes you inside five of the eight buffets:
●The Planet Hollywood buffet will spice up your life
●La Vie est pretty rosy at Le Village Buffet in Paris
●The Imperial Palace buffet is straight from the 70s in more ways than one
●Caesars buffet: nice puds, but not one to fantasize over
●The Harrah's buffet may drive you to drink

This could be you. Not the famous rapper with the mic, the faceless crowd. And, this could just be one of seven stops for you. In one night. If you think that's more hassle than it's worth, VegasChatter's club kid Brandy Alxander tells us how we can report to seven floors for just one low price... and if it's really worth it.
Caesars Entertainment, the same company that brought us the Buffet of Shows, the Buffet of Buffets and the Pool of Pools, now brings us the All Night Pass, what Caesars’ Pulse of Vegas Blog describes as “a way to ‘cut through the velvet rope’ with a one-night, one-price, all-access pass to seven of the hottest nightclubs in Sin City.”
The pass is valid from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. (on Sundays through Thursdays only), but since clubs really only operate from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., you can do all the dancing in the dark you want for about 6 hours. The seven venues include: Pure at Caesars Palace, Chateau at Paris, Gallery at Planet Hollywood, the Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Saloon also at PH, Carnaval Court at Harrah's and Crown and VooDoo, both at Rio.

It's Friday, the holiday weekend's here and you really, really want to be in Vegas, but think the room rates are out the roof. And, they are, but not everywhere.
We just checked our phenomenal hotel rate tracker and found there are still some un-scary places to score a great rate on a Labor Day Weekend crash pad. Get into Stratosphere for about $71 bucks a night. Sure it's not within walking distance of anything, but the rooms are freshly remodeled. Somewhere that is within walking distance of quite a few popular resorts, Hooters, is just $79 a night. Stay and you could be helping it stay in business.

Las Vegas Review-Journal entertainment reporter Mike Weatherford speculates Manilow's two-year run at Paris will come to a close this December. But, even before the Jersey Boys announcement, fanilows were speculating that the guy who writes the songs was headed to Venetian all due to a tweet by his manager:

Recently Caesars Entertainment introduced a Get Out Of
Jail Buffet Line F ree that we stumbled upon. One reader thought it was well worth the additional fee to speed up to the trough while others said no way.
For the benefit of those willing to ante up, we considered visiting each property at various times of the day to detail where and when the Buffet Express Pass is available. But we still aren't quite right from the last time we raced between buffets, so instead we reached out to the experts behind Caesars Dining for further detail on Express Pass cost and availability throughout their Vegas empire:
For only $15 more you can waltz past the common folk standing in line at the trough to be fed. We first discovered the option at Le Village Buffet inside Paris, one of the more popular Vegas buffets considering it almost always has a ridiculously long line of hungry fanny packers. In fact, the Paris line is the one we had in mind when we suggested that Buffet of Buffet goers should benefit from a dedicated queue.

Sure, it's got new rooms, new eats, a new show, a new attraction, a new sportsbook and a new pool-slash-nightlife scene with a saxophonist no less, but do you know what we're really waiting for from Tropicana? It's new spa. The good news is that its debut is getting closer. And, while we wait, we have some things to really get blissed out about.

If you're still wondering just how much to spend on Labor Day Weekend digs in Vegas, you may want to consider cutting back on the room budget, so you can jam instead. From the day pools to the nightclubs and almost every venue in between, Vegas will be a-rockin' this coming holiday weekend thanks to some of the biggest names in music, either of today or it seems like just yesterday.
The Wynn Music Festival will bring some of the world's top DJs to town (again) while the Beach Boys and the B-52s will play Mandalay Bay. A few resorts over, Def Leppard, Sade and John Legend will be ready to go at the MGM Grand. Not enough? Ben Harper will be at The Cosmopolitan while Fat Boy Slim will headline an all-star DJ lineup of their own at Marquee.
