This is Steve Wynn's Favorite Drink
The next time you find yourself in the Eastside Lounge, the sexy lounge just off the casino, that overlooks the pool area at Encore Las Vegas, order yourself one of the Berry Infusion drinks. Why? Well, apparently it is Steve Wynn's favorite drink (so said our cocktail waitress.)
As you can imagine, the Berry Infusion is an incredibly fruity drink. It consists of Skyy Vodka and peach schnapps infused with fresh pineapple, blueberries and strawberries and costs $14. But hey, if it is good enough for Steve Wynn, it is good enough for you. 'Nuff said.

The High-Low Appeal of Garth Brooks at The Encore
After we took this photo, Purple People yelled at us.
If you find yourself strolling around the Wynn and Encore properties these days, chances are the one and only song you will hearing blaring from the Wynn's outdoor speakers is "Friends in Low Places." And yes, that's because country superstar Garth Brooks has officially kicked off his semi-permanent residency here. (Wynn might be playing his other songs but the four different times we were outside the hotel, it was that ultimate bar crowd pleaser playing.)
We were invited along with several other Vegas media folk to attend the 10:30pm showing of Garth's concert on Saturday night, his second night in town.
With tickets at a healthy rate of $143 (including tax) for any and all seats, front row or back row, we're here to tell you exactly what you're gonna get. Well, not exactly since Garth might be taking different requests when you go. Yes, he takes requests.

Beyonce To Make Nearly a Million Bucks a Show at Wynn?

According to sexiest male gossip columnist alive, Norm Clarke, word on the Strip is that Wynn Las Vegas is courting superstar Beyonce to do a longterm show. While we already find it shocking that Beyonce would consider setting up semi-permanent shop in Vegas, what's completely wild is the figure being thrown around for Beyonce's paycheck: $750,000 per show..
Now, this wouldn't be a six nights a week, double performances on Fridays and Saturdays kind of gig. It's probably something similar to Garth Brooks deal which is strictly weekend shows for month-long stretches. And we surmise that Queen B will fill in when Garth needs some time off.
Still, $750,000 a show? With a hefty paycheck like that, ticket prices are sure to be high and never discounted.

Steve Wynn Goes Shopping at Art Basel, Comes Home With Stallone Painting

Art has never been the first thing we seek out in Vegas, although we bet the galleries at the Bellagio and Wynn are decent places to escape when the sound of the slot sonatas starts to send us batty. But the news of Steve Wynn’s latest acquisition has us rethinking our art aversion. While in Miami for Art Basel this week, Wynn purchased a painting by Sylvester Stallone. Uh huh. Rocky. Rambo. Sly. Judge Dredd. He paints.
Apparently, Stallone has been a part-time painter for 30 years, but his foray into the Art Basel world puts him in the professional category. What else do you call it when you sell your painting to one of the most famous collectors in America for $40,000? Wynn took a shine to an abstract piece, while another art gallery bigwig bought a Stallone self-portrait for $50,000.

Garth Brooks Confirms Vegas Dates; Steve Wynn Wears Cowboy Boots

Earlier today, Garth Brooks and Steve Wynn were on a stage in Western gear confirming Garth Brook's new gig at the Encore Theater. The show will run for 16 weeks, starting in December and Garth will be doing this sort of weekend stint for the next five years.
The Kats Report says specific dates for the first batch of shows are Dec. 11-13, Jan. 1-3, Jan. 22-24, Feb. 12-14 and Feb. 26-28. Show times start at 8pm, with a second show on Saturdays at 10:30pm. Prices for all seats will be $125 but there will be no "tiered" ticket pricing.
To which we say, WTF? We pay $125 even for the worst seats in the house? Hmm...we bet there's gotta be a way around that. Tickets go on sale October 24. And that's the biggest news in Vegas today. Here's what else is on:
· CityCenter's Aria will get a fantastic looking sculpture designed to make us think about our water consumption. [LV Sun]
· Tweens of drinking age can party with the Twilight vampires at the TAO Halloween Bash [Jaunted]
· Versace opens in Caesars Palace [Twitter]
· Yet another round-up of high roller suites in Vegas [Dallas Star Telegram]

Just realized, Wayne Newton + Garth Brooks. "Wayne and Garth" on the Vegas Strip!

Steve Wynn Has 'Friends in Low Places': Garth Brooks Set to Perform in January 2010

According to Robin Leach's Twitter, Garth Brooks will be coming out of semi-retirement to do 16 weeks of shows, starting in January 2010 at the Danny Gans Theater at Encore.
There have been rumors circulating for a while that the country crooner would take up Steve Wynn on his offer but it looks like Garth will confirm it himself tomorrow at noon.
Whatever your feelings on country music (we happen to like it), Garth Brooks will be a great addition to the Strip. He's not too ancient, he's not too cheesy (yeah, Barry we're talking to you) and he's not the kind of performer that we have to do a post about with the title, Who Is?. He's also the kind of act that men and women can both comfortably attend together. We love Cher and Bette but they can be a hard sell for straight men.
Lastly, we're guessing Garth will command a high ticket price. Maybe nothing like Beyonce but something akin to the folks who play at Caesars Palace. Robin Leach even expects the shows to sell-out quickly. In this case, we hope "one of god's greatest gifts is" our answered prayers for Garth tickets.

Inside a Panoramic Suite at Encore Las Vegas
Keep up with our Las Vegas Hotel Video Tours here or head on over to HotelChatter for a full library listing.
When Encore Las Vegas opened last December, HotelChatter was eager to get inside and see what the follow-up to Wynn Las Vegas was like. And it did not disappoint.
Overall, the room, with its separate living area, has an upgraded Venetian feel even though it did seem a bit smaller than the 700 square feet advertised. The black, white and cream color scheme is very classy as is the room in general.
Perk: You can control the lighting, the sheers, and the drapes from your bed thanks to this nifty bedside contraption that feels very seventies. Its best feature: The swivel HDTV--niiiice.

Hot Water Goes Out at Encore, Forcing Guests to Shower at The Wynn Spa

TMZ is reporting that the hot water went out at The Encore over the weekend and the gossip site even managed to get a copy of the letter that Steve Wynn sent out to guests as an apology. From the letter:
As you are now aware, we have experienced a failure of our primary source of Hot Water that services all of our Spa Level facilities and hotel guest rooms. While we have a team of engineers and trades-people working to resolve the problem, we will not likely have the hot water restored until this evening. In the event you need access to a shower, we will make our Spa Facilities at Wynn available to you on a complimentary basis. In addition, I have instructed my Operations team to apply a $50 credit to your hotel folio.
Wynn went on to say how embarrassed he was by this snafu and that in all his 40 years, he has never seen something like this happen. Sucks for him, but kind of cool that guests got a $50 credit. And to be honest, we like showering at the spas better because they have all those random toiletries available and hello, steam showers.

'60 Minutes' Channels 'Behind the Music' with Steve Wynn

Last night, "60 Minutes" Charlie Rose devoted 12 minutes and 40 seconds to his friend, the "Man with the Midas Touch"--Steve Wynn. The news magazine show attended the opening of The Encore back in December and the result is a puff piece on Steve Wynn, his life and career, that embarrassing Picasso poking incident and other anecdotes about what makes him human.
Sure, there are some stats listed here and there. Revenues at Wynn Resorts were down 32 percent in the last quarter. Wynn made nearly $600 million from the sale of the Bellagio and Mirage to MGM. But largely, the segment is all about Wynn the man.

XS at the Encore is 'The' New Vegas Hotspot

In this recession, club owners would have to be pretty confident that their new club would pay back its construction costs and then some. Whether this was the subject of discussion with the co-owners of XS inside Encore Las Vegas, Victor Drai and Steve Wynn, and managing partners, twin brothers Cy and Jesse Waits (yes, they’re really twins), is still under speculation. But hey, they built the $95 million club anyways, and it’s Vegas’ hot spot right now.
