Mandalay Bay's New Deal Will Leave Your Wallet and Your Stomach Heavier

Where: 3950 Las Vegas Blvd S [map], 89119
July 28, 2010 at 11:51 AM | by juliab | 0 Comments

We personally haven’t been able to touch a buffet since our epic seven in 24 hours stint a couple of months back, but we understand that those of you who aren’t similarly scarred are fond of the old all you can eat. So you might be interested in the latest deal from Mandalay Bay.

Stay two nights and as well as your room, the All Day Buffet package gives you two all day buffet passes to fill your little tummies with. Even better, the rates advertised are from $65 for Mandalay Bay, and $85 for THEhotel.

Obviously those rates are too much to hope for. Looking at availability this morning, there are a fair few $86 rates at Mandalay in August and a couple of $70s in September, but to get a $66 deal, you’ll have to wait till November 21.

As for THEhotel, there are a few $100 rates scattered through August (nice!) and some $96s in September. You can score a $90 room for October 31 or your $86 on 21 November.

THEsexytime Comes Cheap At THEhotel This Weekend

Where: 3950 Las Vegas Blvd S [map], 89119

Staying in the THEhotel/Mandalay Bay vicinity this weekend? Then, lucky people, you can take advantage of some reduced price sexytime!

We popped into the imaginatively named THEstore at THEhotel yesterday after the launch of Vegas Uncork’d at Mix, and were confronted by a stack of “mobile intimacy kits” and a sign saying “75% off”.

And these are no boring, graded-by-the-size-of-your-room sex kits like the ones at Paris – stuffed into the little red case are two condoms, a mini pot of lube and a baby vibrator. And behold – it’s so discreet that you could put this in your bag on the way to O’Sheas and no one would be any the wiser (until you had your wicked way with them of course).

Where To Stay With Your Boys In Vegas (Success With The Ladies Not Guaranteed)

April 28, 2010 at 1:36 PM | by Mr Pappagiorgio | 10 Comments

Warning: the ladies may not be so impressed with your, um, turrets

VegasChatter fan Curtis emailed us to say that he's hitting Vegas in June with the guys and is looking for a less sexy option than Paris. We understand, sometimes you just don’t want the man dictating your rubber selection.

Trolling for deals June 1-4, we found some decent offers amid some rooms that were surprisingly a bit expensive for a mid-week stay. Since we aim to please all budgets – but still want to score a deal, here are a few rates we liked:

THEHotel for $125 During the Week Plus Some Freebies

October 8, 2009 at 11:43 AM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Yes, it's true. If you're watching your budget but you still want to come to party in Vegas, you can always stay at the Luxor for $38 a night and the Excalibur for $22 a night. But really? Is that how you want to "do it up" in Sin City? Trust us, we spent the night at the Excalibur for $56 for the widescreen (aka renovated) rooms and we're pretty sure we don't want to go back.

DealBase.com currently has an offer for $125 a night for THEHotel At Mandalay Bay that includes all-day buffet dining for two, a cabana credit for a rental and 2-for-1 weekday entrances to Moorea Beach Club. The deal works best during the week and is based on a two-night stay. We found the $125 rates for next week, the week of November 8 and the week of November 22. Weekend rates jump up to about $200 a night except the weekend of October 23 and November 13th which hover around $400 bones a night.

With an intimate boutique hotel feel and lots of space, we think you'll like this place a heck of a lot more than a medieval-themed room at Excalibarf.

An Alternative for Housekeeping Cart Kleptomaniacs

August 12, 2009 at 5:14 PM | by Whalehead | 3 Comments

An unsuspecting housekeeping cart lies in harm's way in the hallways of The Mirage.

OK, admit it. When you stay at a hotel with bath products you like, you totally raid the housekeeping carts. Nowadays, at least at a number of Las Vegas hotels, instead of breaking the law, you can go about procuring your favorite soaps and shampoos on the level: by buying them.

Many properties—especially those which have partnered with high-end vendors to create signature brands—sell larger versions of their in-room bath products at spas and on-site gift shops. Prices range from $9.99 to $23.99. Here’s a closer look at the highlights of Sin City’s signature bath products, and a rundown on where you can go to purchase some of the goodies to enjoy at home.

Hiding In Plain Sight: Hotels Within Hotels in Las Vegas

Where: 89109
July 8, 2009 at 6:38 PM | by globetrotting gourmet | 0 Comments

Shhh! We’re going to let you in on a little secret. Several of the Las Vegas hotels you know and love (and that we've written about here on VegasChatter) have separate facilities – an über-exclusive hotel within a hotel, if you will – that pony up private check-in, super-charged personal service, and amenities on steroids.

Wanna see Mamma Mia on a moments notice? Snag a highly-coveted reservation at Daniel Boulud Brasserie? Stay in smoke-free, non-gaming luxury? These high-end accommodations grant guests endless touches of cosseting, making couples wonder how they ever survived staying amongst the Hotels.com crowd.

Here are three of our favorite places to make the most of Sin City...in complete on-your-terms style.

Come On In, The Water's Fine: Divers Can Now Go Inside The Shark Reef

Where: 3950 Las Vegas Boulevard South [map], 89119
June 29, 2009 at 6:48 PM | by Erika Pope | 0 Comments

Guests of Mandalay Bay or THEhotel now have the chance to have close encounters of the toothsome kind while diving at Shark Reef.

We’ve always liked Shark Reef, which truthfully makes other aquariums look rangy and dilapidated by comparison. We recall a visit to one Florida aquarium (it shall remain nameless), even, that we couldn’t help comparing to Shark Reef, which seemed not only more modern, but also cleaner and more well tended than the other.

The four-hour Dive with the Sharks experience starts at 3 p.m. with a guided tour of Shark Reef Aquarium, during which participants (only two permitted at a time) learn about the attraction’s various marine and amphibious inhabitants, with special emphasis on shark health and behavior. Following the tour, participants get an orientation before it’s time to peel on their wetsuits and begin the 45-minute, underwater adventure.

Suite Life is Mandatory at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay

Where: 3950 Las Vegas Boulevard South [map], 89109
March 28, 2009 at 2:46 PM | by Erika Pope | 0 Comments

Before the all-suite sister towers, Palazzo and Encore sprung up alongside the Venetian and the Wynn, there was the all-suite THEhotel at Mandalay Bay. Back in 2003, it was the first large-scale hotel "addition" to an existing property to be introduced with its own separate brand and distinctive atmosphere.
