Bagatelle Looking To Hire, Sister Venue Heraea Coming To Palms

May 11, 2012 at 1:45 PM | by | Comments (0)

Bagatelle is coming soon to the Tropicana, but it looks like it won't make its "target" Memorial Day weekend opening.

A hiring poster on the venue's Facebook page is looking for the usual "model positions" of cocktail server, restaurant server, bartender and more, but the line "opening June 2012" caught our eye the most. (But, if the help wanted part interests you more, a job fair will take place May 14-16. Details are in the flyer we snagged and posted below.)

A Last Look at RPM and An Un-Official Sneak Peek at Bagatelle

April 17, 2012 at 5:58 PM | by | Comment (1)

Somewhere between discussing the empirical nature of bio-chemistry with an enchanting Ciroc vodka booth babe and witnessing Carson Kressley hanging from the ceiling, firing confetti cannons and launching siren-call entreaties for young Hispanic men to come dance with him, we remembered we were standing in the future home of the new Bagatelle nightclub.

Its been an odd year for the Tropicana, trying to solidify its identity and scratch out a target audience. We think the place looks great, but it's never noted as destination point for anyone we ever talk to. Bagatelle is the latest experiment.

Does Dancing With The Stars Cha-Cha The Tropicana Out Of the Doldrums?

April 16, 2012 at 1:38 PM | by | Comment (1)

Will the tango and foxtrot provide the necessary kick to revitalize the Tropicana? First night reaction to Dancing With The Stars: Live in Las Vegas suggests a winner. If you like the ABC TV show, you'll probably love this production. If you are no fan (and maybe you're being dragged to see it against your will), sit back and wait for Carson Kressley. That really might be enough to make your night. Seriously.

'Dancing With The Stars' Will Soon Be a Show in Vegas

March 28, 2012 at 5:06 PM | by | Comments (0)

In Las Vegas these days, celebrity is king. Nothing can open in Vegas without a celebrity attached to it -- whether it be a show, a musical, a candy shop or even a BBQ joint. And now, celebrities are taking over The Trop.

ABC's hit show, Dancing with the Stars, is coming to Tropicana for a twelve-week run starting April 14. The 80-minute live show will run daily, except Tuesdays, and will feature "fan-favorite dances from past seasons along with new and thrilling routines." Yes, that's right. Even though DWTS is currently in its 14th season on the air, you can come experience a bizarro version of it here in Vegas.

WTF? SPF Already SOL at The Trop

Where: 3801 Las Vegas Boulevard South [map], 89109
March 19, 2012 at 5:46 PM | by | Comments (3)

On Friday, we went over a bunch of new changes happening yet again at the tempestuous Tropicana Hotel. But, one that really stood out for us -- especially as we head into pool season -- is that the forthcoming, former Nikki Beach space, SPF will not open. At all. Yes, that's right. In Vegas, sh*t closes before it opens.

Don't unpack your bikinis just yet, tho. The Trop let us know that SPF space will actually be part of the hotel's just announced Bagatelle Beach and Nightclub, from nightlife operators One Group. (They are the folk behind celeb-loving STK restaurants.) From the press release:

The More Things Change At Tropicana, The More Things Stay The Same

Where: 3801 Las Vegas Boulevard South [map], 89109
March 16, 2012 at 3:24 PM | by | Comments (2)

Time to check for in on the pulse over at Tropicana. Last fall's best new drama was on the corner of the Strip and Trop with the closing and scaling back of several operations. By year's end, we suggested the Trop lick its wounds, chalk up 2011 to growing pains and experimentation while looking forward to year two of its rebirth. Trop's New Year's resolutions included the poker room landing a champion ambassador while it also took back the reigns on Club Nikki, re-branding it as RPM to run it in house.

Less than three months later, we can say RPM we hardly knew you as Trop has sold its nightclub and beach club to the ONE Group, the same fine folks behind STK. Guess that means SPF, we never knew you at all. Hope those model beach club servers didn't quit their day jobs. The new blood will introduce Bagatelle Beach Club, the Bagatelle lifestyle, and Bagatelle Champagne party brunch April 1. That last one we could get into but with so many changes already we gotta ask WTF?

In A Mobster Turf War, Which Crime Museum Should Get Your Money?

March 7, 2012 at 1:39 PM | by | Comments (0)

It's a mobster turf war. Downtown versus The Strip. Tommy guns and fedoras abound in a battle for your vacation dollar. Yes, we're going to take you in a head-to-head battle to help you decide which Las Vegas organized crime exhibit is best. Downtown's Mob Museum, or the Tropicana's Mob Attraction. We like both, but here's a little insight into to help you make up your mind when just one will do.

Downtown was our first review, then we hit the Tropicana. We hadn't seen the earlier version of the attraction at the Trop and walked in with an open mind. And, we took some flack for enjoying the interactive acting part of their attraction. Guys acting like super-over-the-top-stereotype mobsters? Sounds dumb? Hey, no one was more surprised than us that we enjoyed it.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year...to Book a Holiday Stay at The Trop

March 6, 2012 at 7:50 PM | by | Comments (0)

It might be too soon to start thinking about what you're going to be doing for the holidays this year but in Las Vegas, the early bird always gets the better hotel deals. Which is why if you're thinking of Vegas for the holidays, Tropicana is offering a killer deal over Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The hotel is offering four days, three nights in a club deluxe room for just $99 TOTAL plus priority VIP check-in and other Breeze VIP perks. There's no booking fees or change fees either and in case your holiday plans change, you just need to cancel 24 hours before your stay. Just remember, there is a $14.99 daily resort fee.

The package is available from November 4-8, November 18-29 and December 10-24, including weekends. We checked rooms for November 4 and found rooms for just $33 a night making it a grand total of $132. Not bad at all! The only catch is that you must book by March 31 which might be too far out for some of you but hey, it's always good to have options.

Tropicana's Mob Attraction: Tweaked, Fixed And More Fun Than You Think

Can Las Vegas handle another mobster-themed museum? We're pleasantly surprised to to tell you, yes.

Will the Mob Attraction Las Vegas (formerly the Mob Experience) at the Tropicana be able to survive the turf war with its downtown Mob Museum rival? After taking the tour and talking to a few visitors on the first day open, we hope it does. The Mob Attraction is an undeniably fun addition to The Strip.

Where: 3801 Las Vegas Boulevard [map], 89109

Jamie Gold carefully ponders his next move at your stack.

At the end of last year, the Tropicana hoisted 2006 World Series of Poker winner Jamie Gold's name atop their poker room. The Internet's reaction to the news was mixed but, to his credit, Jamie has been appearing frequently in the the room ready to play. Which should be easy enough to do since he's living at the Trop. The room officially had its grand opening party last month complete with red carpet and special tournaments. But, the fun doesn't stop there.

Jamie Gold is now teaching the poker secrets pros don't want you to know. For only $400, Gold will lead you through an intensive one-day poker training seminar. The deets proclaim that Gold has learned from the masters of the game and has even read all of the books for you. In a mere six hours, he reveals his lifetime of poker education and experience.

Things may have gotten off on the wrong foot here.

After mob shenanigans messed with our minds yesterday, we learned (and shared) that the Tropicana's partially shut down Mob Experience Attraction will finally fully reopen on March 1.

Once it does, guests will find updated A/V presentations that "will enhance special effect and help with visitor flow":
