Sluts R People, They're Precious, and They Want To Tattoo You
And you thought the most interesting things to be found on the Strip were the escort vans Bellagio fountains. On the contrary- the thing that’s given us the most pause for thought in the past week is this ad we saw on a taxi.
Sluts r people too. R they? Even if they can’t spell? Ok then.
Anyhoo, obviously we had to Google this Precious Slut Tattoo Company, and a looksie on their website tells us that not only do they have a tattoo parlor at 1013 E Charleston (at Maryland Parkway), but they’ve just opened a brand new one on the Strip – at 1141 Las Vegas Blvd S, just up from the Viva Las Vegas wedding chapel. So now you can seal in the love for each other after your special ceremony with some thorny roses or a fairy or the like. How very poignant.

The Best Vegas Wedding Ever: You and a Capriotti's Sandwich
Let’s face it – we’ve all dreamed of a Vegas wedding, haven’t we? Our recurring fantasy has always been to do a Britney at the Little White Wedding Chapel (with an Ashton Kutcher lookalike, to mix up our pop culture references, see), but we’re always put off by the cost of dissolving a sham failed marriage.
But now, our time has come. Because next Wednesday, you can actually get married at the Little White Wedding Chapel for free – a full ceremony – without the hassle of finding a bride or a groom or a license or a lawyer to dissolve it afterwards. Amazing. The only catch? You’ll be marrying a sandwich.

Vegas The (Other) Show Wants to be the Best Lunch in Town
The audience at the Saxe Theater may be a little hotter
Remember the Vegas! The Show confusion with our nearly booking a downtown one instead of the Saxe Theater one which we wanted? Well, we were out on Fremont Street at the weekend and found that other one at the Las Vegas Rocks Café.
According to the advertising, it has a cast of five, but it also features the “Las Vegas Showgirls”. On a TV screen? Or all five of the cast, including some cross-dressing? It’s on at 2.30pm Wednesday through Saturday, and is billing itself as the “best afternoon lunch show in Las Vegas”. Heady claims, people, heady claims.
Apparently the show is:
A story in song featuring music, comedy and a multi-media journey through the history of Las Vegas. It starts from the 1930's, progresses to the present day, and includes a look into the future of Las Vegas in the year 2050.

Fall Off The Edge of The Stratosphere For $100

Adding to its list of thrill rides The Stratosphere has announced it will let crazy people with a death wish ultimate adventure seekers do a "controlled" free fall off the top of its tower. So it's sort of like bungee jumping but with a lot more tethering going on. (Still, this totally qualifies as The 90s are Back trend.)
The LV Sun reports:
Riders will be given a safety lesson and then get in custom jump suits. They will then be connected to a "descender machine."
After jumping off the tower, riders will be guided by wires to stay on course during the 108-story descent facing the Las Vegas Strip before the descender slows the rider down for a controlled landing.
Stratosphere called the ride "an incredibly safe, yet audacious adventure."
The ride is expected to open in April. About six to 10 jumpers will be accommodated each hour. The ride will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sunday-Thursday and until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. May we suggest NOT doing this hungover. Thank you very much.
Here's what else is on in Vegas:

Mix Weddings with Vegas and Halloween and What Do You Get? Gothic Weddings

OMG. From wherever you're reading this column, we bet you heard our belly-aching laughter when we came across Gothic Weddings' website. A rather timely discover, too, with Halloween right around the corner.
The wedding chapel serves up all sorts of spooky wedding packages -- imagine geting hitched in a fog-filled wedding chapel with flickering candlelight. Cue the eerie organ music as the missus to-be walks down the aisle with a bouquet of yep, blood red roses.
With packages like Dracula's Tomb, Rocky's Horror Weddings, and When Vampires Fly (with Stratosphere Hotel and Casino aerialists, Kathy and Case), the nail-biting options are just endless. You can have the Grim Reaper perform your ceremony, cemetary themed props, or even Minister Frankenfurter perform "I Am Just a Sweet Transvestite" -- all with a live webcast of your nuptials for friends and family members sorely missing out on the freak show fun.

Support for Local Custard Shack Swells After TV Star Diss

Mindy Kaling, one of the cast members of the television show, The Office, apparently doesn’t love Luv-It Frozen Custard very much.
The actress, who plays Kelly Kapoor on the hit show, ragged on the few blocks surrounding the Vegas institution at 505 E. Oakley Blvd., one block from the Stratosphere.
Now, she’s the butt of a neighborhood’s ire, and the object of derision on a Facebook page.

Inside The Stratosphere Hotel: Cheap, But Noisy
We had a nice enough time (barring the odd crime) living up the four star hotels last week, but when we needed to extend our Vegas stay over the weekend, rates had shot up (maybe it was the Rod Stewart groupies filling up the posh hotels - he played Saturday). We looked at the Stratosphere, thinking it’d be cheapo, but it was throwing up nearly $80 for the Friday night and $115 for the Saturday.
But Hotwire was showing a three star hotel in the North Strip for $54 on the Friday and $75 on the Saturday. Checking on Betterbidding.com we were pretty sure it was the Strat, and booked it. And sure enough, it was.

Stratosphere To Stage a Wedding for 99 Couples on 9-9-09

Vegas is known as a place for quickie, kitschy, ultra-luxe or otherwise zany weddings, and with good reason. More than 100,000 marriage licenses are issued annually to couples who choose the backdrop of Sin City for their nuptials, with certain major holidays (New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day) enjoying the majority of the wedding action.
Having a rare date combination on the marriage certificate is also a plus. Last year, August 8 (8/8/08) was an incredibly popular date wedding, as 8s are considered the luckiest number in Asian cultures. Of course, the year prior brought us 7/7/07 – the quintessential Vegas jackpot sequence – making it a natural choice for the Vegas-bound betrothed.

You Can Now Play Blackjack Poolside at The Stratosphere

Finally, there's something we'd be interested in doing at the Stratosphere other than thrill rides and drinking souvenir drinks--playing blackjack poolside. From Friday through Sunday, 12 to 7pm, bikini-clad blackjack dealers will be beckoning you poolside at the hotel's renovated pool area.
The Stratosphere Hotel & Casino recently announced the addition of bikini blackjack to its newly renovated pool area. Bikini blackjack is available Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. - 7 p.m. and will last throughout the summer. If blackjack isn’t enough excitement for you, other poolside activities include a water balloon toss and beer pong tournaments.
Gotta love the beer pong tournaments! We're also keen on playing blackjack here rather than at the swim-up tables at The Hard Rock because we won't have to worry about whatever is lurking around in the water.

50 Years Later and Las Vegas Still Loves Dino’s Lounge

What’s that? Yet another bar recommendation? What’s with the folks at VegasChatter? Are they total lushes? If we were to answer to the last question, and you still want to stick around for this entry - than welcome to the club, the VegasChatter lush club, because reader, we know our bars.
Okay, now that we are done stroking ourselves about our bar cred, let’s cut to the business at hand, Dino’s Lounge, and they’ve been a cornerstone in this city for nearly half a century.
Located downtown, this is joint registers in the proverbial (okay hackneyed) term of "old school," but in the best possible way. The live music acts are some of the best in town, from punk, to alt-country; the drinks are great with cheap beer and cheap martinis coming at you with the non-stop consistency of an anemometer gone haywire; and the barflies are simply as loose and good natured as any bar in town.

Luv-It Frozen Custard :: Because We Said So!

Now that it's officially Summer, we here at VegasChatter feel the need to start pushing some "Summer Relief" ideas. When temperatures start zenithing beyond the 110f mark, we know tourists will always look for a reason to wander off Las Vegas Boulevard to get some shade or a cool drink. But did you ever think about the relief a nice, cold, flavorful cone of custard might provide? If not, can we suggest Luv It Frozen Custard?
This small hut located just a block east of Las Vegas Boulevard off Oakey has been a mainstay of the city since 1971. It's one of the city’s great cornerstones (The Killers’ frontman Brandan Flowers stops here when he’s in town, if we can just name drop this once) and visiting here you’ll see why. There really is no overhead other than one employee on the premises and nowhere really to sit, other than just hanging out on the street to indulge in some classic custard.

As Far as Thrill Rides Go, The Stratosphere is Essential
Yes, a lot of the other Strip properties offer their fair share of thrill rides, like the Sahara and New York, New York, but for over the top, G-Force exhilaration, the Stratosphere is still the measuring stick for all the thrill rides that exist and will ever follow.
Situated on top of the 1,149 foot Stratosphere Tower, the rides (or as locals call the "tall three") are: the Bog Shot, X-Scream and the Insanity. Each one will has a different method of making you scream your lungs out with fear and anticipation.
